I think I have a 2.4 ghz, GTX 670 4 gb, 8 gigs memory. What's a good program that can identify everything (type of motherboard, processor type) so I can get more specific recommendations? I know my card is borderline acceptable but not nearly enough to run W3 or AK on ultra, but don't want to upgrade it if a new processor would be better in the long-term, but don't know if my MB bottlenecks it.

What's a good program to use so I can post my system info here in full?

Speccy

It has an option which allows you copy the entire details of your PC into a long text file. Maybe copy that and paste it here.

Instead of pasting directly, because it's too long, paste it at PASTEBIN and then post the link.

Thanks Lee,

Here's a summary.

Thought my CPU was a bit slower. What would be the next step in upgrading? Is my motherboard decent enough to support a newer CPU, would I even need one, or a high end card such as the 980? Would I really see any significant improvement from a 980 than I would from a weaker card at a few hundred less? Would RAM be needed as well? I have about a $500 budget. All I really care about is being able to max out The Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight.

You got a unlocked processor and a Z mobo so you can OC it. Honestly no point in upgrading the CPU unless you go down the X99 line and get a 5820K or better.

Upgrading the GPU would be most logical I think. GTX 980 shouldn't be out of budget for you, but compare test results with GTX 970 to see if the last few % of better performance is worth the premium.

Go home you're drunk, LOL got great CPU there, I see that MOBO, what's the case you have? if you've got proper case you could get 2x 290s for that budget of yours

Medium tower Corsair. Don't really think I have room for two cards, it's tight as it is. Does i5 vs i7 really make that much of a difference for CPU? I'm not one for overclocking. Have little idea what I'm doing besides plug and play and updating drivers, etc.

@horgen: having looked at the differences in performance for the price, I can put my cash to much better use elsewhere for the differences I'm probably NOT really going to see in the 980 compared to the 970 4 gig I just bought. Just not worth the extra $200. Meh, maybe not all the games at Ultra, 60, 1080, but both will look and run a hell of a lot better than on my consoles, and that's what I'm looking for.

It's more than fine for 2 GPU setup.

You get full tower for 3-4 GPUs, in case you were thinking differently.

One thing TC should do is add more cooling into the case if planning on doing two gpus

You will still enjoy most games on ultra at 60 fps... You could always get another 970 at the end of the year or when nVidia has released their next series.

At stock the C70 comes with 2 front intake and 1 rear exhaust, I agree that he needs to install 2 more on top as exhausts as well.
