WoW was signifantly dumbed down to appeal to the younger audience and casual player fanbase which is what made it so successful.
Vanguard on the other hand requires insane computer specs to get the most out of the game and had one of the buggiest launches for an MMORPG ever, though it seemingly is getting better with every patch. Still, I don't recommend either game. Huxley and Age of Conan are the only upcoming MMO's I'm actually looking forward to.
Most of the people who claim VG is superior to WoW are one of these "MMO elitists." They like to tell you how to think and belittle anyone who even remotely enjoyed WoW. The problem with VG is the large number of bugs and performance issues. To the MMO elite "depth" means it takes a very long time to level up. WoW allows you to level up quicker, it is supposed to it is an action MMO.
Also VG is considered "deep" because so much pain is caused mentally to people when they die. Not only do you lose xp but you take a giant durability hit. I don't mind either one so long as I do not get hit by BOTH at the same time. Yes you could go get your body but that usually adds another 30 minutes minimum if you were dungeon crawling.
So far the only innovative thing coming from VG are the revive stones you can use to rez your healers.
I didn't mind the slow leveling or travel time. I was tired to the repair bills because I played a warrior and Sigil is inept when it comes to fixing important bugs. And I became tired of the large amount of bugs.Â
REALLY?this was made in 2007 you stpid **** DIE IN A FIREWell i like both wow and vg, im happy wow was created cause it made competition think, what made me go to vg is because the community
i think vg is more matured then wow.
hercufles
see wow is fun, it is alot easier now though since it was before i agree totally on that. and it has more of an economical and social element than it does a gaming element. but i still love to play with my girlfriend on there and it is a fun experience..
but that being said.
i have been gaming a long time.
played many of a game.
only really a handful that i really didnt like.
there were alot that were ok.
some that were great.
few that were excellent.
and some to come out with high hopes... like star wars TOR. and maybe huxley (if it ever comes out) those are the 2 announced mmos' im looking forward to.
another dream mmo is (aliens vs predator fps/mmo/ rpg elements... 3 races.... if you ever played avp on pc you know what im talking about) that would be so sweet.
ok now that im done with mmos
i have alot of games that have recently came out in past year that im not letting myself get. except for RA3, and Dead Space. lol
because i like playing them at high settings and staying at 60fps. super hd resolution. and full aa.
but im looking forward to them after i upgrade my cpu and gpu.
bottom line is alot of people that play wow think they are in the same league as other gamers. which alot are not.(because for alot of wow players, wow is the only game they really have ever played to amount to anything.)
but there are alot of people like me gaming vet, that play wow too, wow deserves its credit where it is due. but people tend to give the credits it doesnt deserve to it rather than the ones thatit does.
as far as gaming. it is a small leap yes... but more for virtual society than for gaming, and it achieved this well, but it gave up some of the gaming aspects to do it. note i mean only some...
now im gonna have a differentiated opinion about biowars "the old republic" i always wanted to live out a star wars fantasy as a kid, lol i mean alot of people have, theres no need to lie... and i think that the old republic is the closest thing im gonna get to that in a long time, choices you cant go back and recorrect that stay with your character indefinately. has more content than all the lucasarts and bioware games combined... those are bold statements, and i sure hope that the game lives up to it.
