What would a beefy upgrade for my SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100269VXLE Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0? Preferably DX11 compatible.

P.S. I got 4 gigs of ram at the moment. Would there be any reason to get more?

Yep. I love my hd6870. I have it paired with a AMD FX-6100, 1600mhz ram, and everything runs smoothly. I was running a hd6670 and there is such a big difference when I installed the hd6870. Highly recommended card for somebody who doesn't want to break the bank.

It would be nice to know what your other components are so we can tell you if you will be bottlenecked.

Do tell.

@op.

Base on experience the quality of ram doesnt matter as much as how much you have. I have old ballistix that was fast for its time, but 2gb wasnt cutting it for tf2 back then with each update, so I shoved 2gb of costco bought kingston ram!! Made the difference for me.

Agreed. While I drool over the hd7970, it's just a bit too pricey for my blood. I'm sure it's a good investment, but I'd be satisfied with a 6870, the get another one later to run Crossfire. I think two of those are still cheaper than 1 7970.

Well if that's the case get two 7970s and run them in Crossfire! If $$ isn't a issue why not shoot for the stars!
