Hi people,
Just wanting to see if anyone had any reccomendations for good game soundtracks? Ones that have stuck out to me were games like the Silent Hill series, Metal Gear Series, Full Throttle Etc.

they are all orchestrated by jeremy soule he is the god of theme music. he has done skyrim, guildwars 1 + expansions, guildwars 2, MGS: peace walker, icewind dale, oblivion, morrowind, HARRY POTTER, dungeon siege, total annihilation, wh40k: dawn of war I & II, swtor, prey, company of heroes, supreme commander 1, forged alliance & 2. he is simply put the god of in-game theme music.
no one else comes close to his supreme awesomeness.
Those Guild wars tracks sound epic! And I've got the half life tracks, theyre so moody and also cool dance thrown in for shooting action :) Still got the original Half life in the big box with the tracks on the game cd!
I've been listening to this soundtrack alot recently:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OABx1PjPnQA
It's from Dreamweb, an ancient cyberpunk point and click adventure. Just awesome.
Check out the soundtracks for Advent Rising, Halo, Max Payne 2 and Final Fantasy 7. Those were amazing.
the new syndicate has remixes of the old syndicate theme. i don't know if they are for marketing only or whether they are ingame as well, but these 2 are awesome:

there are a couple others i think, but i don't like them.
The Bastion Soundtrack Is simply Beautiful, thanks for the recomendation!
I love The Red Dead Redemption soundtrack as well, especially this one:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IkvAb6THQY
Also has anyone played Machinarium? That soundtrack is brilliant, it came with the game, and the music is so ethereal.
And finally another one of my favorties, The Pandora Directive Soundtrack, Richie Havens was awesome:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm-m4P5T4d0
THE song. There's WoW, Diablo 1,2,3, Warcraft 3, TFT (probably 1 and 2 both have great soundtracks, but I don't really remember the games), Starcraft 1, 2, Portal 2, Devil May Cry 4, Trine 1, 2, Deus Ex HR, WH 40K DoW 2, Medieval 2 Total War, Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood and Revelations, Braid, Mass Effect 1, 2, 3, Anno 1404, 2070, bout all I can remember for now.Awesome! Thanks for those, I never knew one of the civiilisation songs won a grammy. Definitely wanna check them out now though!

Silent Hill seriesPIGNINGood taste.
Alot of good suggestions here, with recent gems like Superbrother Sword and Sworcery and cIassics like Total Annihilation. As for me, I highly recommend Machinariums OST.
Metal Gear, Silent Hill, (which you said of course)
All of the games in the franchises mentioned below.
Diablo
Parasite Eve
Command and Conquer
Max Payne
Halo
Duke Nukem (though the recent game's soundtrack was lackluster compared to the games before it, much like most of the game graphics aside)
Wipeout (racing games)
Perfect Dark, and 007 games.
Now for more singular games
Hellgate london, Quake 2, Quake 3 all have much of the work done by Sonic Mayhem.
Torchlight
Tabula Rasa
Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey
Turok 2 (love Port of Adia)
Some good tracks on Ace Combat 5.
Some Indie titles
Bastion
Zeno Clash
Apox
Should give you a good place to start lol.
Lach0121 LOL yes, I beleive you've just sent me off on a musical Odyssey :) :) :)
PIGNIN
lol No problem bro.
I am a musician myself, video game music is one of my major influences. Matt Uelmen (did Diablo I and II, some of DIII "supposedly" and Torchlight I & II) He is one of my favorite composers, not just of videogame music either, I mean period.
Also the soundtrack to the RTT (real time tactical game) Joint Task Force has some good music, especially for a modern setting, strategy game.
My gf reminded me of these too.
Mass Effect (I have only played part one, but I am sure the music in the rest is good too)
The Last Remnant (rpg)
Old school NES/SNES time, try Metriod, and Contra (also Super C, which is Super Contra) and of course Zelda!
The legend of Dragoon (ps1 rpg)
Might want to also check out SMT (Shin Megami Tensei) I only played 3 games of this series, Nocturn, and Digital Devil Saga I & II. Nocturns music was ok, a few good pieces, but Digital Devil Saga's music was much better, I also recommend checking them out as well.
EVERYTHING from:
- Jesper Kyd (Hitman & Assassin's Creed series)
- Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy I - X and some after but mostly only partial except for XIV where he did it all alone again)
- Noriyuki Iwadare (Grandia, Grandia II, Grandia Online)
- Michiko Naruke (Wild Arms Series)
- Yasunori Shiono (Lufia 1 & 2)
vanilla WoW has some of the worst audio known to man it consists of alot of very bland and boring tracks. not one of em is memorable. WoW is many things but good audio, it does not have.Vanilla WoW, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I have to agree for the most part, except for a few glarring exceptions. Burning Crusades actually had some decent music in it. Matt Uelmen even did a couple of tracks for BC. They were good. Aside from that Wow had very lackluster music.
