I'm gonna get a new rig soon, and as I already have Win XP pro, I will get it with Visto Home Premium.

My Question is, is it true that games will run slower on Vista then on XP? I am especially concerned on OpenGL games (which I will play QW in the near future which uses an OpenGL engine) which, I heard, run really bad on Vista.

This Site's Search function is really confusing the last time I used it. And when I tried Googling, the tests where mostly at the OS's Beta.
Though I want to be 100% sure that OpenGL games run well regardless (like Quake 4 for example)>

Thanks

Very minor difference, nothing you will notice.

I run Vista and have no problems with any of my games.

With the exception of Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood doesn't install on Vista and Ubisoft doesn't want to fix it sadly. Road to Hill 30 works though.

Some OpenGL games need to be run in compatability mode, however thats spelled lol. But as far as a performance difrence, there is no loss.

The people that are having trouble are the ones who have installed Vista on an older system. If you were to buy or make a new rig there would be no problems besides Vista start menu bugs and such and weak GPU drivers.

And the UAC is anoying but you can always turn it off.

I couldn't install Silverfall, but other than that I'm gaming strong, aside from a minor hiccup once and a while. I highly recommend Vista, as it is good now and will get better down the road.
