Have you ever seen those Mac commercials that make Vista look bad. Well they aren't really telling the truth because Vista works really well actually.Vista Is Good!Wake up people commercials never tell the truth and you know it. So mac should quit lying about Vista quality. At least Vista doesn't randomly close the internet! Yeah when that happens you are seeing the greatness of Mac! I'm having problems with WMP11 since I upgraded to Vista. I can't seem to find a codec to make it play videos, other than that I think it's working good so far.

Yes Apple is full of it and they always make stupid commercials to show how zomfg good they are compared to Windows. He was just using "*({[-SARCASM-]})*" to say in a simple way what he thinks about all this MAC/Apple BS.

My XP friends are always knocking Vista, but the truth is I've had 64 bit ultimate for a long time now and I have had no issues at all. But I have 8Gb of ram, so the Vista ram usage thing doesn't affect me.

HA!

To be honest I always thought Southpark should've redone that Episode for Mac users,

Hell Mac has already put a stereotype on PC and I've always pictured Southparks version of Smug to Fit Most Mac users just fine.;)

Personally I preferred XP, I hated those UAC pop-ups you'd get everytime you tried to do anything also they seemed to change the names of thing unnessarily like how they changed add/remove programs to programs and features, seemed pretty pointless to me, just made it take me longer to find it.

Vista is fine. I liked some of the new features. I just didn't like all of the bloat and slowdown, and the fact that it wasn't fully compatible with either my soundcard or my tv tuner. Hopefully Windows 7 will have better optimization and compatiblity.

Vista isn't bad but i don't think it's that great. I don't consider goign from XP to Vista an upgrade. Performance in Vista is worse than in XP (my lower spec'd laptop with XP trumps my significantly higher spec'd Vista rig in pretty well every task). Windows 7 has some promise, i'm hoping it actually delivers. As for Mac vs. PC, it all comes down to preference. I much prefer my mac over either of my PCs, i work faster and more efficiently in OS X compared to XP or Vista and it is just much more enjoyable.

Vista runs just fine as long as your rig is powerful enough. I heard that some engineering programs aren't Vista ready though, so I might have to keep an old computer with XP around the house lol.

I think its not worth the 100 bucks it costs for me to switch from XP.

And considering I never buy bre-builts anymore... they really have to make the OS attractive if they are going to charge so much for it.

I actually have vista on a laptop I use sometimes... its reasonable but I wouldn't call it better or necessary to upgrade to it.

I've had more games crash in my one year with Vista than I did in my 5 years with XP. Overall Vista just seems unnecessary, unless you absolutely cannot live without something like Aero. I only got Vista last year because we were told XP was soon to be no longer supported. That turned out to not be the case.

I own PCs and Macs and your statements are nearly as retarded as the ones Apple make. Your statements are nothing more than PC fanboy ramblings. Windows versus OS X is so 1954. Randomly close the internet - what the hell does that even mean? I've used OS X for close to 6 years now and I've never seen a Mac do that. you can play a lot more games than you can with Mac - um you can install Windows on a Mac, and play whatever games are supported on the hardware. As for what do I think about Vista? I love it. It's a much nicer OS than Leopard, and nearly as nice as Tiger. I prefer all 3 of these to XP.

They've being doing this since the launch of the PC back in the 80s. They are 1 of the most openly pretentious companies in the world _BUT_ the home computing world owes a lot to them, since they did invent the market, and gave us our first taste of the GUI (something they stole from PARC), amongst other things. IMHO Apple's advertising is kind of like trolling, if you find yourself defending your PC against it you've kind of fell for it.

That is actually a myth. Ask your proffesor what AutoDesk Discrete products work on natively. I think the same answer applies to Maya as well. Then look at the list of movies, animations and games those products have created

Deff true about 3ds Max and the like working on Windows, but I believe Maya can be used on a Mac. Otherwise, bootcamp it is.

Vista is a commercial failure, no business in it's right mind would ever, ever use it. It's just plain horrible if you want to do anything remotely technical - it bombards the user with constant, pointless "are-you-sure-you-want-to-do-this" messages and it trys to cover every eventuality with a wizard, problem is these wizards don't work. Anybody who argues that Mac OS X is a poorer OS than VIsta is out of their mind OS X hardly ever crashes and has very, very few bugs all in all a much more stable & user friendly OS than anything Microsoft could ever make. The Sad fact is that pretty much every game released recently (even ones made by Microsoft!) are build on computers using OS X because Vista is a steaming pile of **** when it comes to doing real purposeful work, Microsoft have gone out of their way to make Vista easier to use for the "average user" which in real terms means "idiots" and they've achieved this to huge success but at the cost of proper functionality and ease of use for anybody wanting to work on it. You can argue that it plays more games than Mac, which it does but more often than not it doesn't due to compatibility issues with games still designed to run on XP so even that doesn't work as intended (32 bit works better than 64 bit to be fair). Remember folks, there's a reason Microsoft have extended XP's mandate to hardware manufacturers since people weren't buying into Vista (they were actually buying the computers then wiping them clean & installing XP to get them to sell) and there's also a reason why Vista is due to begin being phased out this time next year - it's a bad OS.

I bought Vista because my copy of Windows XP didn't want to download SP2, which enables USB 2.0, and thought that buying an aging OS would be a bad decision. Honestly, other than a pretty UI and the search bar in the start menu, I've been happier with XP.

I like all this talk about how "unsafe" vista is. Thats only because its the most popular by a HUGE margin.. If tomorrow mac became number one every mac on the planet connected to the internet would get screwed over so fast. Apple would have to change their pants.

Vista 64bit is actually the safest desktop OS on the planet and in world history becuase it uses the 64bit security features.SEANMCAD
Well that's 1 hell of a completely random statement. OS X is 64 bit, Linux is 64 bit, nearly every other UNIX under the sun has been 64 bit for years now...

that "are-you-sure-you-want-to-do-this" is a DIRECT response to all the complaining and whining about how many security holes XP has compared to Linux and apple. In short, what you are complaining about now is FIX to what people complained about in XP and believe me people complained about XP all the time. Now they just complain about Vista.

truth is, both are fine.

you know that u can turn UAC off. and theres plenty of tweak guides where u can debloat vista quite abit

Anyways, No problems with Vista, and while XP was great, given the choice between the 2, I'd run Vista.

XP outpeforms Vista.

Every statistics say that consumers stay away from Vsta - when they can. I wonder how many would have bought it if they could have gotten XP on their new comp when buying it.

I heard XP just got its life prelonged for the 3rd time. It is going to be hilarious to see windows 7 flop too and MS having to let XP live as a symbol of their incompetence

Use VLC media player. I love Vista, my only friends that knock it have never used it before and just believe the Mac commercials on TV.
