I personally rarely use it. Maybe even never. Doesn't serve much of a purpose for me.

I don't use it. There's even games where the V-Sync option makes that not all artifacts are loaded. Mafia 2 springs to mind (with an ATI/AMD card) where it looked like had wandered into an early developing stage screen when I started the game. After a lot of head scratching I finally found that when I turned off V-Sync, the game loaded perfectly normal...
It depends. If there's a lot of screen tearing and the game doesn't require fast, accurate aiming, then sure. In any other case, no.
Never. I don't notice screen tearing like it seems everyone here does, so it's pointless to take away from my framerate to fix a problem I don't see.
It's like this... it slows most games down unless you're playing the game 5-10 years later on a machine that is far superior to the machine you originally played the game with. As mentioned it can cause renderingproblems with some games. So overall I don't bother with it, I just disregard it as if it's not even there. Most of therendering options they give you don't make enough of a difference to necessitate enabling them.
It seemstheyhave more ofpsychological impact. You think it looks significantly better enabled because you want it to.
I have crossfire 5870's so no of course I dont use V-Sync. I like to see the big yellow number in the corner when I run fraps. It hurt my e-peen if I used v-sync :P
Every game I buy these days runs at 60+ fps on my pc. I never used vsync until I switched to lcd since its 60hz. The tearing is unbearable in most games with it off. And it is certainly smoother as well. It's like this... it slows most games down unless you're playing the game 5-10 years later on a machine that is far superior to the machine you originally played the game with. I'm one of those anal people who will strafe left and right to judge how smooth a game is. I'm also one of the few who complained about the embryo engine frameskip bug. Having a locked framerate of 60 is better to me than fluctuating all over the place. Looks so much smoother. Plus its easier on the hardware thats why I dont go with 120hz monitors.
Didn't used to, but now that I've upgraded to SLI 470s I use it more often then not. If the game becomes jittery I just force triple buffering, but with BC2 I don't need to, it runs perfectly smooth. Maxed out/dx11/32AA and I still need vsync ;)
Same. If my FPS is averaging well over 60fps, then I will Vsync. I hear that too high of a frame rate can overheat your GPU. And then of course if a game has nasty screen-tearing, vsync is a MUST whether I'm averaging over 60fps or not.If my average frame rate is above 60fps, then yes.

Wouldn't 32AA be overkill? Which resolution are you using? I think anything beyond 16x AA, AF is overkill. I don't think BFBC2 can look any better than this at 1080p or 1200p.Didn't used to, but now that I've upgraded to SLI 470s I use it more often then not. Well sure it's overkill, but I never drop below 60 fps so why not?

I guess I'm OCD. I just don't see the reason to "push" my GPU for nothing even with 60fps+. I don't have any reason to make my gpu work harder for no gain. I hope you understand where I'm coming from. Just sayin'. :)depends on the game...
If its a fast past shooter like Call of duty, ill turn it off. Mouse lag kills your aim in that game.
[QUOTE="JangoWuzHere"]I do fine with vsync in cod.depends on the game...

I actually just realized that "Sync Every Frame" in Black Ops is Vsync... Been playing with it on the whole time :D
No because 60hz isnt responsive enough for me especially in FPS games. I used to use V-sync on my 75hz monitor 1024 monitor but my 1200 monitor is 60hz only.
I find that 75hz V-sync on is like 60 fps V-sync off with no screen tearing and a slight motion blur effect. I play in window mode in most games anyway so V-sync is useless.
Sometimes, it looks turrible turrible on tv without vsync just like a knucklehead. Generally, no since it obviously caps my benchmark fps and well I love looking at the fps ticker.
It is nice. On the opposite end, I hate it when the splash screen displays like 3000fps... scares the heck out of me. Don't nuke my graphics card!Sometimes, it looks turrible turrible on tv without vsync just like a knucklehead. Mouse with a high polling rate can compensate for the input lag.
I use V-sync, Sure I can get more headshots if I turn it off, but I do just fine with it on. Its more about having fun for me, instead of win, win, win. (although I don't do too bad;))
I use V-sync because some games run smoother with it on, I also cannot stand heavy screen-tearing.
I don't use it if it does nothing, like on some games. Or doesn't help much, or if the input lag is too great, though not many games have presented this problem for me.
Though I am not a tournament gamer or a professional gamer, I do it for fun. So I may not be "elite" enough, :roll:lol, for the input lag to affect me as much as it does them..... Ironic, just think about it.
