I was about to order my mobo and CPU for my new comp today and I'm glad I didn't.

I just found out about the new processors coming out around january. I don't want to change my board choice so was wondering if anyone knew if it would run on this:

Anyone have any estimates on pricing too? I can afford upto £140 for one, think I'll be able to get the E8500? Or at least the E8400?

Yeah that motherboard is compatible with penryn processors. As for pricing, I don't remember it exactly, but 140 pounds should go pretty far. Also, if you don't mind overclocking getting a cheaper model might be a smart idea, since they should overclock VERY well.

Yes that sounds good.Im not sure about that one but some of these intels push the coolers to point that they sound like jumbo jets taking off.

Yeah, aftermarket cooling would be smart. Conroe dual cores overclock very well, and considering the yorkfield quad-cores can hit 4ghz on air, what's to say dual cores can't. The only thing the dual cores lack is an unlocked multiplier, but they make up for that with less heat output. Also, with quality ram and a good motherboard, having a high FSB overclock is very workable.

Holy crap! Awsomeness. I'm definatly waiting for them then. I'll get a mid specced one and get a good after market cooler for it. Anyone got any reccomendations?

The FSB on that mobo is 1333, and my RAM is 800mhz. Would I be able to get 4ghz off a 3ghz base spec with the mobo up above abd a decent after market cooler?

My case has 1X80mm and 1X120mm but I'm probably going to add anouther 80mm on the side.

Yeah , a 30% OC should definatly be doable , well 33% to go a full GHz. Definatly get a good cooler. The two best I would use are the Tuniq Tower 120 (Its HUGE make sure your case is big enough) or the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro (Also Huge but will fit into MOST Mid-size ATX cases) Plus the Arctic has a better price and VERY easy to instal. The Tuniq is a pain in the a$$ as far as assembely.

I'd probably go for the freezer 7 pro. Since I was originaly going to get it since it's awsome for price to performance value. My case is a standard midi ATX so hopefully it will fit. Wonder if I can find a good after market cooler with blue LEDs :P
