F*cking GS screwed up my last most ARGHHHH!@!!!!!!#!@#!@@$!@#$!# Don't use that RAM on a PII, its for i7, PII runs on DDR3 Dual Channel or DDR2 Dual Channel. Here's my build for 1300$ ASUS M4A79T Deluxe + AMD Phenom II 965 - 402$ Coolermaster 690 - 70$ G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 - 75$ XFX 4890 1GB - 199$ Seagate 1TB HDD - 89$ OCZ StealthXStream 700W PSU - 89$ Sony DVD Drive - 26$ LG W2353V-PF Black 23 - 219$ Arctic MX-2 Thermal compund - 7.98$ Prolimatech Megahalem - 65$ Total : 1242$ Improvement on the last build, saved up on PSU, RAM and Case, improved the CPU and motherboard along with that added the best cooler and thermal compound in the market. Good stuffgigatrainer

Single channel, dual channel, who cares? And that memory is not strictly for I7, I use OCZ 6GB kit optimized for I7 and it runs like a charm. It doesn't matter which ram you use, every DDR3 up to 1600MHz will work on that board, only in single channel.

It is better to run Dual channel memory on a motherboard that specifically says "Dual Channel" since it is more optimized to run them. Plus it saves quite a bit of money.

Believe me, it is much better having 2GB more memory than dual channel memory.

No. Either have 4 x 2GB or 2 x 2GB. EDIT : And it is almost pointless to have more than 4 GB of RAM for gaming these days.

I have to agree with you, 8GB will leave both 6 and 4 in the dust. But still I'd chose 6 over 4 any day. In gaming, over 3 is useless. And heck, even for every day use you don't need more than 4, but just for future proofing. I can only imagine you and me arguing about is it better to have 4TB six channel or 6TB quad channel in a few years. :D

Yeah well, I guess I can put in another set of RAM in that setup for 75$ but we can leave it as the user's choice. Apart from that, having more number of sticks may put more stress on northbridge. /discussion
