Well, it really depends on your budget. If you want to go all out, the new Geforce 9600 is a monsterous graphics card. I dont see the need for a quad core system because my dual core works more than fine for most games.

Dual Cores are better with games in general. And better if you're not a big overclock freak. But still you can overlclock it quite a few percent. I'd go with the 9600GT SLi, like I will.

If you want to go for the 9 series, and have a big budget; wait for the other 9 series cards to be released. Otherwise, instead of getting a 9600GT, I'd say spend about $20-$30 more and get an 8800GT. It's an overall better card as I have seen in tests.

there's a nice card.

Now for a processor, you don't necessarily need to go Quad. If you have the money though, it might not be such a bad investment. I got myself a Q6600, and can easily overclock it to 3.0Ghz.

Be smart about your purchases. Read reviews, study up on it, and build what you want.

You look like you've picked a good set-up there. Although, by the looks of the motherboard, I'm sure the Bios options will be farely simple, but I'm pretty sure you don't care. Overall, that kind of rig will last you a little while. No need to upgrade for a few yrs, that processor is going to last you 3-4+ years.

All in all. It'll be a good investment for all those parts.

the setup is good but this ram is cheaper and better espically if your going to be overclocking http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148183 also if you are overclocking you can save almost $200 by buying a E2180 and overclocking it to 3ghz easy which should be very very easy to do with your ram/motherboard combo and the extra cpu fan will allow you to push it even farther than that

The E8400 is a good margin better than the Q6600 so get the E8400 instead.

Well, the Q6600 OC'ed to about 3.4Ghz and up, can and will out perform the E8400. And the nice thing about having a Q6600 is the fact that when games start utilizing the 4 cores, you're already fully prepared to take them on.

Im not trying to sound against the q6600 but the E8400 can overclock alot better and more than the q6600. By the time you need a quad core for noticable increases or to play a game well the q6600 will be very oudatted not to mention it uses the SAME artitecture as the core 2 duo so your statement of it will be ready to take it on is not entirely true also its not even a true quad core its just 2xE6600 on a single die. The best option now if he's overclocking is to buy the $200 cheaper E2 series cpu and overclock it then he can make the jump to quad core when he needs it

I love evga. I have excellent experience with them. The person who had the video card before me registered the product and I contacted them and the guy actually hooked me up and switched the warranty to my profile :) so I will always buy evga in any given chance.
