Which mmo is more fun in your opinion? I use to love Warhammer Online to death, it was a great game. Do a lot of people still play Warhammer? What about Lotro?

I played Warhammer for quite a long time, but I quit because they started taking stuff out of the game and the population dropped off. I like what I have played of Lotro thus far. Its free until around level 35 when you'll need to start buying quest packs or subscription. Warhammer also has a Call to Arms program where if you reactivate and old account you get 10 days free.

Personality, I keep lotro installed on my computer and play it when I am bored.

I just started playing LOTRO again recently since its gone free to play. I recommend just downloading it and giving it a shot. Some stuff still costs money but none of it is required so you can play it for free the entire time if you wanted to. Thats what I intend to do at least. I have never played Warhammer so I do not know how they compare to eachother.

You don't need to buy anything in the game for Lotro. It does help though. You can earn turbine points throughout your gameplay and buy things with them that you would otherwise have to put cash down for. It is just a very long grind in comparison to just giving in and putting down money. Without the quest packs you will also have alot of grinding to do to level up instead of actual questing. To enjoy the game to its fullest you need to pay but you have absolutely no requirement to and can level up to max from what I have read without spending a dime now. Just as I said it is a long grind

I am not that big of a fan of Lord of the Rings but the game is fun. I don't see whats wrong with it to make you say that at all. Now I have not been playing it long so maybe I am missing something thus far. Its definitely fun for being free

Its free for the whole game now. You can purchase points to unlock some quests and other things as well. The points though are also able to be earned throughout playing the game so you don't really have to buy points if you don't have a problem being patient and grinding a bit more than the people putting down cash. Here is a link to show you what you get for free in game compared to if you wanted to put some actual money into it, you get the majority of the game for free

http://www.lotro.com/free.php?

there are a ton of people playing now as well since its gone free. I have been playing it off and on for the past couple days and every area has alot of people

If you want to get past level 50 I believe you still need to get the 2 expansions. Mines of Moria and Siege of Mirkwood

Between the two, Warhammer by far. I actually played that game quite a bit, compared to how I usually drop MMO's like a sack of bricks. I have tried LOTRO on three separate occasions and I was never able to get into it. It's just a really bland game.

I'm playing both right now and Warhammer gets played alot more! I really like the race specific classes and each one plays different. PVP is alot of fun but can be frustratingly slow due to population being low in some servers. I also think it looks better than LOTRO. It also feels like it plays faster, if that makes any sense. LOTRO just feels like it's dragging to me. But to be fair, I really havne't sat down to play it for an exteneded amount of time like I do WARHAMMER.

Waaagh!

WAR is fun if you already have a high level character. I played in the beta and leveled up with everyone when the game first came out. Now I can only imagine you'd have quite a boring time leveling your character to 40 considering the lack of new players. The game is certainly a very fun time when the conditions for RvR are just right

I almost subscribed to Warhammer again.. but then I realized that the game went from 40 servers to 4..

That has to say something...

Virtually every MMO has 'dice rolls' behind the scenes when combat/ skill checks/ etc occur. Many of these games wouldn't exist without D&D.

DDO is not a bad game. I played it for a few months when it first came out. I found the environments abit stifling since most things occur in instances in one city and there are few to no soloing options. Its worth trying though, especially if you are into D&D.

The internet loves the warhammer ip so they are all going to say warhammer, but in all honestly its a pretty decent game at best and a flawed ,bugged filled, spammer filled(if you deny the gold spammers are in every channel then you are blind),wait filled, and frankly poorly manage game. It went from 4 on xfires top most played games to 73 and it also went from a huge amount of severs to 4. While lotro opened up new servers. Dont get me wrong I think the f2p model in lotro isnt all that good but war is still and always has been a meh game.

If you compare them both feature wise, WAR is pvp oriented and lotro is all PVE (only monster play but not available to free players). WAR has been left out and they never really fixed any of the real issues while lotro has been very successful with their fanbase and has been continuously improving.

I'd forgotten that you could paly as a monster in LOTRO! How is the PVP? I'm a master of suck so I'll die quickly, horribley(sp?) and repeatably. I didn't know War had lost that many servers. I was wondering why some many were greyed out.

Warhammer for pvp, LOTRO for pve.

That right there should decide it all for you.

Personally imo Age of Conan has the best pve in the genre currently, great time and fast paced. First area is free to play.

Yes War did drop to 4 and needs to drop to 2. Saying that there is still plenty of action if you roll on Badlands. Just know t4 is unplayable there right now but they are working on it. By the timeyou get high enough level to be there it will be fixed.
