WarCraft 3 is the best.

Crysis is a great new shooter which may not be the best FPS, but is a great sneak game. Almost compares to the splinter cell series and even better that you get to actually kill people. (headshot, cloak, headshot :) )

Half Life 2 is the best FPS of all time.

im not too into RPGs, but System Shock 2 is the best shooter/rpg ever (bioshock is great also imo)

Im hoping that far cry 2 will take shooters farther than ever and improve the genre, but probably not.

I like the sport as it is, but I hate sports game, of anykind. Anyway, I was half-joking, as from my perspective a sport game could never be the greatest ever, but I see what you mean

1. Fallout
   -Well what can I say, it's an absolute achievement in RPG design.
2. Morrowind
   -This is one of those games for me that I always come back to. The RPG side of the things is fairly weak in comparison to Fallout but the world is HUGE and I love the setting.
3. Deus Ex
   -I love shooters and this one completely blew the doors off. It's got everything you could want: X-files themed conspiracies, cyborgs, intense firefights, lasers, tasers, and if you can dream it, it's already in here.
4. Master of Orion 2
   -I'm a huge fan of the strategy genre with 4x being closest to my heart. I love Civilization and I love Star Trek and Starwars. When I found out about Master of Orion I fell in love. I played the original religiously until I got this and once again I fell in love. This game has everything that I loved about the first one with more choices on how to manage planets, ships, and more technologies. Oh and more races! :P
5. Diablo 2
   -I just realized something, this should be at number 2 but I'll continue anyway. I LOVE THIS GAME! I really do. While I prefer the original for it's emphasize on horror and a creepy atmosphere, I like this for it's much improved gameplay. It's just a great game, nuff' said. ;)
6. Company of Heroes
   -As I've said before, I love strategy games and when I can get my hands on a good ol' RTS game, I jitter like a kid in the local candy store. This game completely blew me away. My pre-conceived notion of the game was it was another RTS set in WW2 and boy was I wrong! Not only does this game breath new life in the tired WW2 scene that we've seen so many times since the release of Medal of Honor but it revolutionizes the RTS genre like no other game. I want to say that Starcraft is better than this but in my heart I know that I'd only do that for good times sake. :(
