Watching TV on PC Monitor

I'm looking to buy a 20 inch PC monitor that can be used as a television set as well as a computer screen. I don't know what I need to look for in the specifications of the monitor to know whether or not it is capable of watching TV. I know they exist because my friend has one and he plays his PS3 and watches TV on it. Can anyone tell me what input/output or whatever I need I need to look for when shopping for one?

For hooking up a PS3 you will need a PC monitor that has HDMI or DVI. For watching tv you will need a pc monitor with a tv tuner most dont have one.

I used to have my ps3 hooked up to my 22 inch PC monitor and the picture quality is actually a little better than the 32 inch Samsung hdtv I got.

I have a Samsung T240HD and its brilliant.

Are you looking for a monitor with a tuner in it, or are you looking for a monitor, but your computer has a tuner?

If its the latter, any monitor will do, but if you want a PS3, it MUST be HDCP compliant, that monitor isn't.

I dont think monitors come with component inputs, does your directv have any other outputs/cables?

It will only work if your Directv box can output over HDMI or DVI or if you have a VGA box that can convert composite to VGA. They can be a pain to use though.

Save yourself some hassle and get a small HDTV instead of a Monitor. something like this.
