Installed a Pentium II processor into an AMD K7 motherboard. Back then, AMD's K7 fit into a slot that looked identical to the Pentium II Slot 1 connector. I didn't know this; I thought AMD's K7used Socket 7, so mistakingly thought that my Slot A K7 board was a Slot 1 P2 board. I put the PII cartridge in backwards, somehow got the HSF on, and turned it on only to be greeted by...well, a dead board and CPU. **** that sucked.
Trying to install a k62 in a regular socket 7 motherboard, The website said it would work if I did the jumpers right. but it dident.
And buying a processor that was marked "P3 1.1ghz As Is" on the box, and getting home, opening it and finding a 667mhz P3 inside.
Nope, I'm too perfect :)
Nah, I've done quite a few, installing a third party heatsink without putting on the backplate on the motherboard (just when I was to start the computer up, I just realised, and had to dissemble the whole computer :(), plugging in the front panel line in, line out and USB connectors on the wrong pins (so annoying) and cutting myself on the case and hardware (absolutely stupid..)
