Well the graphics are mostly the same, the control's a lot better and yes you have more players, most of the servers are with 32 players or 34, can't remember and there are quite a few custom servers with 64 players and custom maps (huge maps, since the default ones aren't big enough for 64 players :P) there are some pretty good custom maps for it, a few of them are quite awesome.

Firefights are much more satisfying when your in the 64 player matches, absolute mayhem. For the most part they are identical and can be enjoyable on any platform.

Prestige mode is taken out of the PC version. And also did not get the latest patch which the consoles have.

I bought COD 4 for the console first, then as soon as I seen the PC version I quickly traded in the console version, plus I dont like playing FPS on a console at all, PC version is almost always the superior version of a FPS game especially if its online, 64 player server with is so fun and total mayhem, custom maps you will love maps that are not included in the game, if you PC is powerful enough it will look much better than the console version maxed out and much higher resolution

Which in addition to the mouse and keyboard is the reason why any FPS is better on PC.

i have it on pc, but i wish i had it on 360 i just don't want to pay another 60 bucks for it since mw2 is coming out in november. if mw2 wasn't coming out for another year, i would buy it on 360, but i'll just wait. on pc, cod4 is so buggy and laggy i think - pings are laways between 70-300 and in any other game i play i have a ping under 50. also, the textures seem misplaced - even with AA 1680 resolution and v-sync, i feel like the textures and walls are just paper thin and not that neat, and on 360 it feels so much fuller and real. the worst part about it on pc, is the servers are so big, so you might have 50 kills and 50 deaths after 15 minutes of playing, and you die constantly of air strikes and spawn grenades, while on 360, its much more organized and less frusterating where you might have 30 kills and 8 deaths in 15 minutes. just my opinion and my rant that i wish i got it on 360 but am too cheap to rebuy it. i have about 70 hours into the online on pc and have beaten single player twice on pc, i still jump in time to time but usually quit because my ping is at 300 (even tho 50 in other games, and i'm in the US east coast), or because i die 439593 times in a row from nades and artillery

- Graphics are better on PC version

- User madew mods/levels

- Better controls

- More people can play in each game on the PC version (console is 16 i think and PC is 45)

The pc versions of COD4 and COD:WAW are much better on PC imo. (I love playing COD:WAW with 45-50 people on capture the flag, pure madness!)

Visual problems? your PC - also the reason why you "feel" it doesn't look right, well that's because you aren't looking at the walls from 4 meters or more. Lag issues? your internet connection Can't face so many players? get better at it and if you say that you are good after 70 hours, you don't have to really be good even after 70 hours, no good player complains about the game if they really are good. Anyway it seems you prefer your FPS on consoles.

COD4 on PC rules as other posters have said, BUT- the matchmaking on the PC is, well, non-existent. For example, if I have some friends who I want to join my server, there is no way to do it!?

Xfire Tell them your IP and they can connect to it in game. Tell them the server name. Not that hard.

doesn't the fact that nearly 300,000 players are online at all times on 360 for cod4 as compared to like 10,000 on pc say something? 30x the community

I somehow doubt that (300K players when? in a whole week or month?) and I don't really see what you mean or want to prove with that.

Nobody ever talked about that and get your numbers straight next time at this time there are almost 27K but most of the time there are over 34K.

At this point it's obvious, nothing you say now would change the fact that you are a troll :/.

no, if you load up cod4 on 360, and when you select the matchmaking, like halo3 or waw, it'll say current players online now: and it usually ranges from 120,000 to 300,000. i'm sure it was much higher a year ago, i was once on halo 3 and current online players was over 2.1 million. it's rediculous. and i couldn't find the stats on gamespy, but a month ago or so i remember looking at cod4 players online now, and it was like 11,000 or something. so i'm right, owned!

1) You don't have CoD 4 on Xbox, as you just said so what you say on that matter is irrelevant. 2) You're way off with your days...months ago? years? why not minutes? 3) OMG you saw 11K "months" ago, we'll if you can't understand pure English and simple words let me tell you again there are exactly 21,654 online atm and the average users online in the last 24 hours where over 280K. You haven't got the slightest idea of what you're talking about, all of it, Xbox and PC Cod 4's. I wouldn't believe you about the number of Xbox players if you said that you saw yesterday and it's irrelevant to talk about what was months ago when the present contradicts the past, well you can if you lack sense and logic. I'd also ask how old you are too, since only an ignorant kid who just got "owned" on the internet would use "so I'm right, owned" at the end of his "argument".

PC:

Mouse/keyboard

Custom Maps

Choose what map to play, gametype, how long rounds are, choose server based on ping, sniper only servers and dedicated servers

Mods - Such as obscurity and the alien mod

And so on...

I'd get CoD4 for the PC. CoD4 for the 360 (and possibly PS3) isn't even 720p and looks like ass as a result.

Ha, I'm not sure why you are having so much trouble understanding this. What I've said are facts. You just keep asking questions about them and restating nonsense. Yes, on pc you have mods and can get better graphics and more players, but on xbox you have a much bigger community, matchmaking, and it's more organized and tactical; and from my experience not so laggy.

where are u getting this info there are not that many peeps on the console at any given time, the PC community is just a big if not bigger online in COD 4 than on Xbox360 at any given time controls suck on the console version and for any FPS for that matter, only 16 vs 16 players max, absolute horrible and boring, no custom maps on the console version, there a tons of custom maps for the PC version, and if your pinging that high it is your internet connection you cant blame it on the game no offense but when peeps think FPS on consoles are better even if its just their opinion, I really think they are noobs that dont know no better, FPS originated on the PC and will always be superior

I'd expect the PC CoD4 community to be a bit smaller than the 360 since more copies were sold on that platform, but you know how console people are, they tend to chew up games, swallow, crap em out and move on to the next fairly quickly, even the good ones like CoD4. All one should care about is the fact that there are plenty of CoD4 servers of all kinds of games (TONS of them) at this given moment, many running upwards of 30, 40, or more max players.

LOL

The chief difference is that the game looks like garbage on the console. Even on the PC it isn't exactly the bees knees.

You guys do know if you go on the Bungie.net site you will see there are only 100k players averaging online for Halo 3. I'm certain Call of Duty 4 for the Live service is just as high if not higher by a bit. Nevertheless, either platform is more then enough to drop in and have a marvelous time, in addition all platforms looks fantastic.

Pretty much all FPS on PC will trump there console counterpart. Controls alone gove them the notch for me but add that to the abillity for mods and custom levels along with that and there is no comparison. The only reason I have ANY FPS console games is for actual sitting on the couch multiplayer with friends at my own house.

[QUOTE="ncderek"][QUOTE="ProjectPat187"][QUOTE="ncderek"] doesn't the fact that nearly 300,000 players are online at all times on 360 for cod4 as compared to like 10,000 on pc say something? 30x the community

where are u getting this info there are not that many peeps on the console at any given time, the PC community is just a big if not bigger online in COD 4 than on Xbox360 at any given time

um, no.

stick with your console, you will never learn, unfortunately there are people like you that never will experience the best experience of a game because they are to blinded by console noobness

I played pc games for about 9 years and just got tired of it. I hate it when good shooters like the clancy games are just ports on pc and no one plays them and the servers are dead and they're so buggy! I also hate how great games like battlefield isntead of making a bf3, make a bad company for consoles only. If I was a developer I would too, millions more buy console games over pc, resulting in millions more profit.

I also love playing consoles on my 50 inch plasma that will last me 10 years, rather than having to upgrade a pc for the same prices each year. I also love that graphics on consoles are better than pc games, except crysis, but that's just one game and crysis 3 is being made for consoles and will look just as good. Consoles have killzone 2, gears of war 2, metal gear solid, halo, socom, and tons more games with graphics better than pc exclusives. In my opinion, if you like online shooters, get it on console - it's usually not as buggy, you don't have hackers, less lag, more developer support, more people use voice, no text spammers, and a community where you have the option of thousands more servers at any time of the day. If you like strategy games and mmo's get it on pc, otherwise you're just waisting your money. The graphics for many games, like bioshock, call of duty, rainbow six, fallout 3, graw, etc. are the exact same on pc and console ... except between 0-30,000 play them as compared to 25,000 and 2,000,000.

Anyways, this thread is helping a guy determine if he should get a game on 360 or pc, I've been giving my opinion and my experience, and facts; while you and that other guy just keep throwing out insults - completely deviating from the topic. call of duty, once a great series on pc, is now much better on 360 IMO, stop deviating from the topic.

NCD stop spamming, system wars is under PC Games, next time read carefully.

Also if you want to make a point bring facts, up to date facts, because in this thread your opinion is worth 0 because you have no proof of what you are saying, also your last post "why consoles are better than PC" is total BS, again you have no idea what you are saying and if you really believe that then you're not playing on your consoles or your are a fan-boy or you don't actually own any good/exclusive PC game and you base your facts out of your of pure speculations and weird dreams at night. Also if you really want to know console games, at least online and especially FPS games are almost dead except for Halo (which as Mario stated, it has around 100K not millions like your weird dream from last night) and a few others, but it IS a fact that FPS games are better and played a lot more on PC.

What is really mind blowing in your post is the part where you say there are no hackers on console games (where the whole game can be considered overloaded with hacks/hackers) and that the community is with mature people, not spammers etc, I can't even comment on this part here, 7 year old kids are more serious that "I'm right, owned" kids that play on consoles that have uber leet /-//\>< skills that are ways above the PC average pro. It's mind boggling, the fact that you think it takes more skill to use auto aim in an FPS that actually having to muse your "skills" to succeed in it.

Anyway let's get over the fact that you can't comprehend what you read (you always change the subject), that you have no facts (only speculations and if you really have something to say it's "yeah I saw a few months/years ago") and that you don't have CoD 4 on Xbox but on PC (when it was pretty obvious from the start that you most likely had only the Xbox version and you just wanted to troll a little), that you actually think that the millions of FPS games that are sold on consoles are actually played online by hundreds of thousands (when most of them are dead because people just want to enjoy them by themselves or with friends), that the community is extremely mature and entertaining (when most scream like degenerates and swear like there is no tomorrow) and that you have more skills/console FPSs take more skill on a aim enabled console than on PC and lets forget that consoles have servers for max 16 players or so (when PCs have even 120 player servers), have a nice short stay on the PC forums, but be sure no to stay long, since system wars or Xbox/PS 3 forums will miss you, oh and while you;re here try to practice the skill of "comprehension" since your lack of it is severe.

I agree.

You can say more people play consoles, which is true, but if you were to take into account that all those games you mentioned were on multiple platforms it would cost you $1000 just to get both PS3 and Xbox360 (along with 1300+ for a decent TV) along with $60 for each and every game. $50 a year to play online.

You can buy a PC that will last 2-3 years playing games on high-medium for $600. Not to mention mods, support, and online play is free (unless it's an mmo). PC is cheaper in the long run, by a lot actually. It's a common misconception that you have to upgrade every year.

It's not like the PC gets worse. You buy a Xbox360 and a TV for $1600. You can buy a PC that runs it just as well for $600-800 (including a 22in monitor running a resolution just as high as that $1300 TV). The PC doesn't degrade. It will play any game that the Xbox360 can regardless of how many years later.

As you already mentioned, consoles are missing the entire RTS genre, along with the MMO genre, along with mods, along with browsing the internet, flash games, word, excel, movie rendering, youtube, facebook, music, movies, emails, forums, etc. It's a simple fact that PCs can do much, much more than a console. If you also take into account that they tend to COST less than a large, high resoultion TV, why would you even consider buying a console? I mean, you can even UPGRADE a PC. A new console comes out? Stick a $200 GPU in there and you've got a PC that still competes with a next-gen console. That's rather than purchasing a shiney new $600 PS3. LOL!

According to Xfire there's a hell of a lot of people playing the PC version every day and it's not too far off of WoW's Xfire figures.

I just cant stop laughing at your console fanboism, the only reason you would even think a console has better graphics than the PC version its because you are to poor to afford a real gaming PC, its obvious you have a cheap PC for you to even think console graphics are better, there is not one single game on a console period plus the ones you named that would look better than on my PC ( or any powerfull gaming PC ) maxed out especially at 1920x1200, a console couldnt even compare graphic wise, I have all three consoles and a PC, ( I'll show you pics if you want ) you claim you been gaming on PC's for 9 years but its so obvious that is a big fat lie, i'll keep this short because Danieldust pretty much nailed it

^Actually, Monolith screwed up FEAR 2 big time on PC. I'm not sure if they've fixed it, but PC has terrible shadows. Console actually has much better lighting/shadows. One of the main reasons I never purchased FEAR 2 on PC. Most of the time, PC will tend to have better graphics (unless developers fail).

Since this is the PC forum its pretty obvious you are going to get a bias answer....Honestly, both versions are superb, of course there are limitations on the 360 version, yeah the graphics maybe arent quite as sharp and you cant have as many people flooded onto the map, but imo the console version rocks. The controls kick ass, the framerate is a rock solid 60 fps, nice big clean image, what's bad about that?! Get which ever you want, its a great game either way.

it looks better, plays better, and will have a much longer shelf life than its console brethren where 90% of the community has moved on to the next FPS.

150,000 people played Call of Duty 4 through Xfire today, and since the majority of COD4 players don't use Xfire, the actual number is much higher than that.
