To the poster above me, how can you say those games are amazing, yet you condemn Bioshock?

Knightshift is my shelf, why, I do not know.

Murdouken

He didn't say they were amazing, he said they were not lousy enough in his opinion to be on a list of worst games owned.

yea, thanks for saving me the trouble...

And as for Bioshock, that game is not even competent, as the other game I listed were. Bioshock was more like a unorigonal play-along B movie.

Bioshock IMO is the best PC game to come out since Half-Life 2.

Much better than some people give it credit for.

I'm not here to shoot down your opinion, but could you explain why exactly its the best game since Half-Life 2. What new things did it bring to the pc gaming table that have not been explored before.

I guess Frontlines: Fuel of War. I never really installed it or played it, but my friend came over one day and just told me to have it. So I guess I can't really vouch for how bad/good it could be.

You say that people should play more crappy games when they put games likeGRAW, Halo, Double Agent, Far Cry 2, Gears of War, and Audiosurf on the list, and that those games shouldnt be there. Then a few sentences down you go ahead and put Bioshock on the list!

Thats kinda funny, and arrogant. I guess your opinion on what games that should be on the list of "worst games ever" is the only one that counts.

BioShock is the most overhyped, overrated, POS snoozefest since Halo. The gameplay is a joke: you only need to fire a weapon twice in the entire game - from Neptune's Bounty thru final "boss battle", the game plays itself (hack turret and sentry bots, throw 'Security Bullseye' at BD then sit back and watch).

Yeah i guess in retrospect i didn't take into account that those game i tried to rescue could be to those who opted to put them on the list like Bioshock is to me. If that makes any sense. I just stated my opinion to strongly I guess. But i don't think i've ever seen someone who liked Bioshock explain why they think it is great, although i find it very easy indeed to point out its flaws, and on topics debating the game i have noticed a simliar patter. Those who say its great blindly defend it, while those who say its lousy can make a seive of it.

Do you always rate a overhyped, overrated, pos snoozefest of a game with an 8.0? Thats kinda lulzy

Anyways, im not the biggest Bioshock fanboy but i loved the plasmids, atmosphere, story, graphics. And gameplay? I liked it. All in all a really entertaining game.

Good question, probably Advent Rising or Drakensang. What's worse is that I bought these through steam so I can never get rid of them! I have see them every single time I log-in, staring at me! Laughing!

Bioshock beats the living crap out of a lot of FPS games for obvious reasons...

Worst game I have is Spore, I hated the space stage with a passion and they seemed to have wasted their time on the previous stages seeing as they're 10 minutes long.

Age of Conan and Counter-Strike: Condition Zero are my worst.

AoC was a spur of the moment thing. I had read about the novel combat system in it, and I did like the setting, so I decided to pick it up. Easily the worst $50 I've spent on a game.

Man, some people here need to play more lousy games. GRAW, Halo, Double Agent, Far Cry 2, Gears of War, and Audiosurf do not belong in this collection. they may not be the best, but they are not that bad.

with_teeth26

You speak truth. But to be fair, the thread title is "what are the worst games in your collection", not "what are the worst games of all time".

Audiosurf, Halo and Far Cry 2 are simply three of the least enjoyable games I own. That doesn't necessarily mean they're some of the worst games ever conceived, I just don't personally own any games that are quite that terrible.

And did you really just advise me to go and play more lousy games? Hmm, you know what, I think I'll pass on that one, thanks. ;)

It's a reasonably fun but very easy FPS with some cool gadgets and vehicles, plus it looks and runs great. Why would you even nominate a game you have not actually played?

Bought it for $5 at D2D. Installed it and played through the beginning just a few minutes ago. Snoozefest isn't even the word for it...plastic is (everything looks that cheesy as well)!

It's so linear, so comic bookish, I'm glad I never bought it for more.

What is it with people who rate games for graphics and not game play?

Really? I loved both series?

The ports suck, but the games were apparently good on consoles. For me, my cream of the crap in my collection are: - Dogs of War - Streets of Simcity - Star Wars: Rebelllion

I still own Daikatana and Test Drive 6. Both got VERY low scores in PC Gamer (I didn't wait for any reviews before buying them).

TC: If Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is one of the worst games you own, you don't own many bad games :)

Bioshock was the first FPS/RPG style of game I had ever played when it came out. If you think of someone in my situation it is easy to see how we overlooked games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Deus ex, System Shock, etc.

Fair enough, i kind of misinterpreted the title when i first posted. I just think all PC gamers should at some point play at least one truly terrible game so that they can appreciate the work of skilled developers.

Ok, good point on System Shock and Deus Ex (i havent played Dues Ex myself), but the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R came out the same year as Bioshock! And it blew Bioshock way the hell out of the water in terms of gameplay and atmosphere. I personally thought Stalker had better graphics as well, but that point is debatable. I can see liking Bioshock only if it is the first game of its type one plays, but it fails as both a shooter and a RPG.

Play it. The graphics are way out of date, but the gameplay is truly second to none. True open maps (and you can do basically anything, like use LAMs and gas canisters to climb even the Statue of Liberty for fun); 3 different modes of play (straight shooter; stealth; no kill); a conspiracy theme that will have you wondering who is actually the enemy; great music that sets the tone (fight; exploration; entering a zone, etc.); and the atmosphere is dark, gritty and unforgiving -- no daylight in DX. Classic cyperpunk. Too many won't play the game as it was made in 2000, but they're shortchanging themselves, of what gaming needs to be about...great game play; great storyline; play length (can finish it in about 15hrs or over 100hrs depending on playstyle); multiple endings that'll make you go, "whoa!".

Hah, no telling what game your a big fan of.

anyways, i might just have to take you up on that, i've been looking for older games i can play on my laptop which seems to struggle with even the most well optimized modern titles. I've been meaning to play it for a while, i just never got around to it.

Tabula Rasa (PC)

Indigo Prophecy

Alone in the Dark

I'm sure there are others that were very bad, but these three stand out as utter disappointments IMO...I will also add DoW II to that list (not that it was really a bad game, because it wasn't) just that it was a let down from the first DoW and all it's expansions because of the different direction the game-play took from a RTS.

I agree about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but it was also terribly buggy for most. I had so many problems with it I just gave up due to the crashes and the other games I had on the go.

Yea thats a shame, it crashed for me when i had an Ati card, but within 3 days of getting the game i upgraded and had no more problems. With a few mods, the game was truly fantastic.

I tried it fully patched earlier this year and it ran fine so I am going to have to finish it at some point because it is a great game that deserves it.

Simcity Societies Gothic III Conflict: denied ops Its sad to see the simcity name be thrashed by EA by making a game that isnt true to the name.

My main problem with Soceities was it was too easy to make your city happen and manage all of the problems. Not to mention it didn't have the depth of Simcity 4 where you could even install water piping.
