if you can save up a lil extra, or you can check out slickdeals.net. go to the video section to find deals on hdtvs. i think 3 weeks ago there was a 46' 240hz 3d tv for 1200.

Not a fan. Save a bit more and get a quality TV from Sony or something.

I would avoid vizio, stick with sony, samsung or panasonic and you'll be good.

I've had receivers and tvs by sony, and they all broke down after a few years.

vizio made a name for themselves because of the pricing, not the reliability.

I'm not expert but i will try to explain in the most simple and possible way. When you buy a VIZIO TV it will cost way less than the other brands and will look good specially if you are jumping from SD to HD. If you get a SONY BRAVIA , SAMSUNG or LG the colors will look better than the VIZIO specially if you put side by side and connected with the proper cables and equipment. Some ot these tvs have better colors than the others that is not very noticeable in stores.

I don't know what you meant with receivers but the video engines of the Sony TVs have way better colors than the Vizios. I'm talking because i have one and have see them. The same goes if you put my Sony Bravia at the side of a Samsung LED LCD; the Samsung will look better than my Sony.
