DRM is a major reason FOR piracy I've heard. The sources of piracy are on some sort of anti-DRM crusade.

rather, I think that is their major excuse rather than reason. When I see a DRM-bashing threads, people tend to bash developers/publishers for DRM , yet no one really mentions that devlopers/publishers acutally needs a decent way to protect their work and investments.
give the games away for free and no one will pirate them.ferret-gamer
Free MMOs usually have this method called "Microtransaction" which charges you for all the tedious things that you do/buy in game. Giving free would never be proper way to resolve this situation.
any suggestions??vj02
To me , the best reason and most reasonable to not pirate a game is .... GREAT VALUE ONLINE GAMING..
Some examples "" Diablo2 - Counter Strike - Warcraft 3 etc "" and many more ... Even if most of them got singple player as well , is the online gaming that making people to buy these titles in order to play online.
Ofc this cant be done in every title , its logical not to ..But i think great online , less piracy or to say it better ... Better sales
I own every game I play, I have about 60 or 70 (not counting those I've sold in the past, of course)
A better question, separate in reality but apparently not in some people's perception, is "how to I get good sales?"
Understand that if you use "anti-piracy measures" that negatively affect the paying customers experience, that will add to your reputation as a bad publisher, as will publishing games that are bug-ridden and have other issues, none of which you bother to resolve. Understand that, the income you recieve from games is from paying customers, not from heaven, and you are not entitled to the money just because you spent money.
Understand, finally, that people who pirate your game are not "potential paying customers". Just because someone is willing to pay NOTHING for a game that doesn't include DRM doesn't mean they're willing to pay $60 for a game that does.
Apart from that, if you don't like copyright infringment, don't work in an industry in which it can happen. Be thankful you don't work in an industry where actual theft occurs, for if you did, you would understand quite quickly the difference.
