So i got this:GA-MA790FXT and i am looking for an atermarket cpu cooler, as you can see there is not much space around the CPU area, let alone how close the RAM slots are:

Or do you think i worry too much:

WAY too much!

Joke thread? The thing is, i am not sure myself, what you think?

Should i worry about the about the cooler i am gonna buy, that might not fit on the mobo?

I think with the retention kit you should be able to use a Megahalems.

Perhaps something that sits high up, high enough that it sort of sits over your ram sticks. Sorry if I can't explain it better.

I think your right. All I know is, my ram sticks have plenty of room. They are not quite as close as that motherboard you posted, but they're still pretty close.

Notice that you sacrifice a whole DIMM slot. So no 4x1GB or 4x2GB and no dual channel.

It also looks like it is literally pushing on the 2nd DIMM closest to it. WHich is not good. I had a 1GB of RAM go bad because my CPU cooler was pushing against it.

I think a xiggy dark knight could fit in. It is pretty thin, but you will have to give us measurements, then you can narrow down your results.

Hi This cooler fits AMD sockets pretty well. It has a vertical

mount so the air exhausts out the back. It is also in the top

10 best for AMD.

Looks good but it says that the temps were higher than Arctic Freezer Pro 7 and there is someone who said that it wont fit on this: which has very similar lay out, plus extra space at the ram slots.

Hi Ya some of the motherboard heatsinks near the processor

are quite tall. This will vary a lot from motherboard to motherboard.

Best thing to do is do a search on the motherboard model you want

to use and maybe you might come across a forum topic regarding

CPU heatsinks. On some of the CPU heatsink manufacturer's sites

they actually list some of the popular boards for compatibility. It

also helps to know the actual dimensions of the CPU cooler in question.

I have a Zigmatek R-1283 in an old P965 board and there is plenty of room.
