so true if overclocking come in to play you have to run the e840 at 3.6-4+ghz you compre q6600 @2.4 ghz to e8400 @3ghz

that i know... its not a contest if both are at 3 ghz... the Q6600 beats the crap out of the 3 ghz E8400...

Only if a program is well optimized for Quads, E8400 it's faster clock per clock...

....which is easily attainable w/ good cooling my friend.....

Think about it this way my friend: if you were running a game that only utilizes a single core, which is the vast majority for the most part, and you have a q6600 you're running it at ~2.4-3.0 depending on OC'ing. Now, if you picked up the 8500 which OC's like a beast, you're looking at 3.16-4+ that a game can utilize.

I had this debate back in May when I was buying my new rig: q6600 or e8400? I picked the 8400 and stick with my decision. A buddy of mine has a q6600 that he runs at stock and I've messed around on his comp and I gotta tell ya, mine is snappier in general compared to his just on everyday tasks, let alone gaming.

Hope this helps.....
