What difficulty setting do you play your games at. I usually play on hard. I just started FEAR 2 on hard. I believe it lengthens the game (so many restarts lol), but also allows you to appreciate the game a bit more.

Call me crazy but I find it more fun when I constantly die. So hardest for me! It's just far more satisfying fighting things that can actually kill you.teh_VU100% agree, you get a greater satisfaction after beating the game, and you really feel like your fighting for your life, unlike a 1 man killing machine.
Normal for my gamesJd1680aI also do sometimes, Mass Effect seemed to kick my ass on normal lol, well before I learned how to play it right. Too bad that came to me half way through the game.
I play on normal 95% of the time...I have to admit though, if I keep biting it in a certain area it completely takes the fun out of the game for me, so I turn the difficulty down to easy in those instances. I'm not a hardcore gamer. I like to have fun...not pull my hair out.
edit, Millerlight89--I had the same thing happen to me in ME. It wasn't until halfway through the game where I did a facepalm and thought, "Oh, man...so that's how I should have done it". Maybe my problem is that I rarely read the game manual. I just jump in.
i prefer hard difficulty unless the scaling is done so i have to dump a clip and a half into an enemies head, (normal enemy, not even a boss)
then i put it on normal...
but if it has any other type of difficulty scaling then i crank up the difficulty.
im fine with less ammo, less health, more enemies, smart enemies, faster enemies.. but damn near invincible enemies that is something i dont like.

Normal or Hard..it all depends on the game really.I start every game at provided default difficulty level. If I find too tough, then I switch to lower difficulty level. It's not a shame to play video games on easy difficulties - as long as I'm enjoying it's fine for me. After all it's my game and gaming is entertainment for me not a living. :)arijit_2404Yes it does matter you wimp, naw man I'm j/k. There is nothing wrong with that you bought the game you should be able to play it however you want. What truly matters is that you enjoy the experience. I just play on hard to make my games last longer, ya know?

Congrats on your part buddy. :) But frankly I suck in FPS games. :( But RPG, RTS games are my fav and I generally able to finish it in default (generally Normal) difficultiy.

Can you track me or something cuz I can't get into you pfile its private, Never can have too many good pc gaming buddies. ;)
Hardest for most games. If it just becomes too frustrating, then I'll scale it back.cd_rom
What if you cant scale it back? I used to play easy but now its normal/medium , when i get to a part where i keep dying and i cant quicksave (cod5), i end up frustrated and hating the game. So easy if theres no quicksave , normal if there is:)
I really used to play on easy because i wanted to play as a powerful charcter, i mean if you expect one man to kill a army, make him powerful

It depends i usually play fps and some RTS at Hard
while the rest like driving, platformers i play at normal
I rarely play on the top setting as these are often truly hardcore ... I simply dont have the dedication for that. So its normally the one before the hardest. If theres only 3 options (easy - normal - hard) then id go for hard.
I started playing Fallout 3 on hardest ... but I just wasnt enjoying it. It wasnt satisfying when every minor creature took 3 clips to take down(maybe I just suck but either way). It just wasnt fun for me.
Genia
I usually play on normal,or when a game is so brutally hard (like Nexus) or strategy games in general on Easy.If that makes me un-hardcore well I don't care ;)wackys
well i use to think of myself as a hardcore gamer, but im not, i just game, looking upon oneself or others as hardcore gamers is promoting elitism, and that is something i dont want to be a part of.
I should play games on hard; I can handle it, and it lengthens the game, makes it more fun.
But I really like to make progress, so I usually do it on medium.
Tbh Crysis on delta difficulty was simply amazing.
Difficulty goes something like this:
Easy - for new born babies or people with a serious form of brain disorder.
Normal - for children or people just chilling out, trying to perform some footage and take screenshots.
Hard - beginner difficulty, offers good balance between killing and dying. Makes the game much more enjoyable first time through as you feel you actually achieved something.
Very hard/Insane - pro zone, nerd zone, awesome zone. You die many times, you break keyboard many times, you complete game once and feel like an absolute god. This is where real games are at - Crysis + Warhead on Delta difficulty is how its meant to be played! This is the nvidia difficulty.
I play my games on Hard the first time through, then attempt with the hardest difficulty a second time and use just that afterwards.
Recently I played Crysis and FEAR 1 on Hard - they were both pretty easy. I think playing a lot of Left 4 Dead these holidays (I'm up to 100 hrs) has improved my FPS skills a bit. Finished all three Thief games on Hard difficulty - I don't think I could ever do Expert. I remember it took me a entire day to beat that Cathedral level, looking for the last piece of treasure. How anyone could do that on Expert is beyond me. biggest_loserMe and a group of buddies on Steam beat all 4 on expert..... wow was that hard and time consuming. (8 hours to beat dead air).
