The poll results so far are very interesting. I think we're seeing a fundamental shift in the landscape over the past couple of years...really since the release of the ATI HD4000 series cards. The 5000 series have pushed more and more people over the edge to ATI, myself included. From 2003 till October of 2009, I had always bought Nvidia cards. FX 5200, 6600, 6600gt SLI, 7800, 7900gt SLI, 8800GTS 640, 8800GT SLI, 8800GTS 512 G92.. and then the 5870.

we were teh same. my first EVER card was geforce 2 mx 440, after that it was fx5200, 6600gt, 7600gt, 9500gt, 8800gts and most recent the gtx 275. we had a random ATI in the yeasr gone past in my GF's old AMD thunderbird, but in the several PC's we have had together, the only other ATI card is the 4850 bought earlier on this year.
Currently 2xgtx275's in SLI but will probably upgrade this year. Have been a supporter of the green team but not impressed by their latest offerings, if the "mid-season" cards (like "gtx485?") looks good then it will be difficult to decide. Right now I would go for 2x5870's CF...

yup, but they are starting to show their age. JC2 everything maxxed and 8xaa really spins up the fans so the strain is there, thats why im giving my current setup till the end of the year then away they go------>*out the window* (maybe not literally)...
Same here.I use ATI (see my sig) because it offered better, more energy efficient cards at the time of purchase of my rig

nvidia, 8800gt has been such a great card. imprezawrx500Mine died  So I had to go with a ATi 4850 in replacement.
Been with ati from the 4xxx series and now the 5xxx series unless nvidia gets their act together I will stick with ati
Had nvidia since my 7900GT in 2006 (when that broke I got a free 8800gs). I'm now running ATI though (5770).

its clearly i am for nvidia, i rather support the underdog instead to follow the best hardware/price that seems only to be the best in the first view.

This statement makes no sense at all to me. You're saying that you support Nvidia because they're the "underdog?" I hope that's not what you meant. That are not the underdog. They are the favorite, and have been for several years. They are currently the favorite that's slipping up, and the underdog ATI is running them down.
not true, times have changed just look at the poll

You do realize that this one poll includes the input of only a couple hundred people, right? The overall marketshare situation right now says that Nvidia is still the "favorite" in comparison to AMD. Check this out:

Nvidia's pricing scheme also shows that they still view themselves as the favorite, otherwise they would be more aggressive and competitive with their new product's pricing. They don't seem to be targeting the needs of the "common man" very well, and it's hurting them lately. ATI is still the underdog, but gaining ground quickly.
Besides, your SN proves that your point of view is always going to be skewed when it comes to GPU discussion.

The poll on this forum shows hardware enthusiasts and reflect that in higher end or gaming cards the buying trend is shifting towards ati.[QUOTE="hartsickdiscipl"][QUOTE="SLI_Gamer"]

The poll on this forum shows hardware enthusiasts and reflect that in higher end or gaming cards the buying trend is shifting towards ati.The responses of just a couple hundred people on this forum don't indicate much. Even if you do think they carry some weight, they don't speak nearly as loudly as the Q4 sales results from last year. It's not even debatable.
While I agree that with the relatively disappointing showing by Fermi, they should, and probably will become the underdog in the near future, we're not there yet.
