what do you think of gears of war

im thinking of getting this game.but i have read some disturbing reviews about it,so what do you think???

Loved it! Pc got the best version :)

One of the finest shooters of the last few years. Only problems are that you'll HAVE to patch it if you want to play it. Another problem is GFWL sometimes deleting your saved games but that can be solved. PM me.

Very good game. You'll feel like starring in a badass science-fiction movie.

When people bash it, I think the game they're actually describing is Terminator: Salvation.

It was a bit of fun, but I didn't like the fighting mechanics. Also the whole my biceps are bigger than my head feel of the characters was obnoxious.

I had a some trouble installing it... it finally worked when I put an old DVD drive back into my rig. I was not able to install it using my DVD burner.

sums it up well, i would add its got great production values and the single player campaign, despite being simplistic and relatively short, is well worth a playthrough if you want a steroid fuelled, straight-to-the-point, blood and gore drenched shooter.

Very enjoyable coop/campaign, but the mutliplayer isnt very good imo.

Worth trying it though bud!

Good graphics, excellnt controls and a good fun factor. The story isnt anything special, but it fits in with the type of game this is.

Actually one of the worst games I've ever played. So extremely repetitive and the characters were very annoying.

It's great. The feel of the game is what's so fun about it.

My first time play through I wasn't overly impressed though. But that was my fault. I just hid behind cover all the time. The game gets fun when you try to be a bad ass. It's so satisfying to blast enemies to bits with the shotgun.

I own gears on 360 and PC and its better as a game on pc, if your pc can run it well.
360 of course has more people on it, but I like how much smoother it runs on my pc, so co op is fun.

What? So you dismiss all criticism as "bashing"? Why bother asking then, if all you want to hear is positive opinions.

I thought it was bland and repetitive, guns felt completely weak (except for the chainsaw). The whole thingwas entirely forgettable.

My Review

I think you should get the game. I loved it. If you have the PC to handle it, you will enjoy it.

Gears of War is a good game however there aren't that many people playing online especially on the co-op mode...

great game imo.

as someone else said, it is a one trick pony, but its a good trick, and there is something very moreish about its gameplay. i guess its subjective, like most games, you might hate the derelict earthy gothic architecture or love it.

this is why there should be demos for everything!!

As a longtime xbox 360 almost-fanboy, I have to say that I really don't like gears of war. It feels sluggish and clumsy, and I don't like having to empty an entire clip of bullets into an enemy to kill it. The magnetic-attraction-to-walls cover mechanic is kind of lame too.

dude if u buy this game u are gambiling with ur money because the pc version has loads of bugs which makes the game not work and lots and i mean lots of people was not able to play the game beacause of this but its up 2 u just pray before u buy the game

It is average to below average. It's ok for a little bit but gets very boring very quickly. I do not suggest it.

Made for consoles - PC games can have more complex shooting systems. Think of Stalker or Counter Strike (etc.) compared to GoW. GoW was basically a cone of fire, you could hold down the trigger and it would always shoot in that cone. Made for controllers really, since they can't be as precise as a mouse.

I own it, played for maybe an hour and uninstalled... if you are a "true pc gamer" don't get it. If you can play console games without wanting to puke, you will like it.

Nah, the poll would be kinda like Kids > people with a somewhat straight mind.

Honestly I absoluteley hated every aspect of the game, whetever the invincible co-op where you die, and just use your mate to heal you up, and seriously? A pat on the back equals 1000+ rounds pumped into this guy are gone?

These guys are on massive amounts of steroids, really obnoxious.

Guns were awfull, only 1 that people would actually use.

Combat was slighly retarded, having a massive magnet on my chest to walls is REALLY annoying when you have to do anything, IE jump over every single time I have to get glued to the thing and THEN jump?

Boss fights are a joke.

The constant killing in the exact same way x1000 is kinda boring, pumping people full of bullets make you seem worthless.

Don't get me started on the multiplayer, it's basically either a 2 second round where everybody rushes the strongest weapon, and blows up the enemy team in a matter of seconds? yay. Or the 10 min round with watching people jump around like rabbits on steroids with shotguns in their hands, and the chainsaw, or curbstomp gets rather annoying when you an option to "Stand back up mash button X, or etc x1000 only to get curbstomped as soon as you start to get up. Awesome.

The amount of blood in this game is just simply ridiculous, blood is important in a game that is understandable but just simply having too much just gets boring...
