XP,if i'm forced to change because of all the games turning to Direct X 10 i will probably just get a MAC because the vista hasn't impressed me at all TBH
I'm still using XP, but I'm not sure that means anything because I'm going to upgrade to Vista (Home Premium) when I build a new PC (hopefully very soon). Just for the record, I really don't understand why so many people hate Vista. To me, the majority of the "problems" I've read about sound like nothing more than effects of various features of the OS which are actually beneficial, such as UAC or SuperFetch. It seems that if one truly understood the mechanics of the OS, they wouldn't have such difficulty in dealing with these issues, if not avoiding them altogether. Of course, there's not much you can do about driver or game compatibility, but that's not necessarily the fault of the OS, and is the sort of thing that gets resolved over time. In fact, one day, three or four years from now, it'll actually be more difficult to find compatible apps and drivers for XP. That's just the nature of software though. The world does turn, after all. The last complaint I'd like to address is this nonsense that Microsoft is "forcing" gamers to switch to the new OS by making DirectX 10 a Vista-exclusive. This is absolutely ridiculous. For at least the next four or five years, DirectX 10 games will still offer DirectX 9 compatibility, if not even older versions. Furthermore, the benefits of DirectX 10 haven't even been fully realized yet, so why anyone except die-hard technophiles (or just folks with money to burn) would be in a rush to upgrade is beyond me. And no, DirectX 10 couldn't run on XP because it introduces a completely different driver architecture which would require a near-complete rewrite of the OS (and that would be Vista). Again, the world turns. *End rant*
ive been using vista for a few weeks now and i really like it alot. so far i havent had any issues and game performace seems to have increased as loading screen times have decreased significantly.
Cornerstore, XP is one of the most common OSs in the world, and Vista just got on its feet. Why the poll? Don't we know the results? Not trying to be snarky... just curious.
i aplaud those who think that xp is the superior operating system. however you are wrong. vista, is the succeser of XP and those that want xp enough togo buy a new pc and then down-grade there system must be shot in the face. admit it vistga is the shadow that will eclipse xp. It is the prince, soon to ascend to the throne. goodbye XP. you had a good run.
I am running both here right now, but am starting to play with the newest option running Virtual PC 2007 from Microsoft to allow me to run XP Pro as a guest system in Vista Ultimate. I am interested in how it will really run. Check out the information on Virtual PC 2007 at the Microsoft web site.
Running XP Pro atm and it works for me. Going to need some serious $$ before I move to Vista. Seems to me that most that have issues might have older components that don't have updated drivers (and they won't get updated because the components are reaching EOL (End of Life)). XP Pro is stable for me and the games run fine. I'll probably move to Vista when I have no option but to build a new rig.
Why on earth would you use Vista now? I have it at work and it's just horrible, in every possible way. Most games just wouldn't load saying Vista has discovered some problem and trying to determine the problem, then simply closing the window.
It's a horrible system for simple usage as well, and not to mention the amount of programs it simply wouldn't load.
Before you go blazing off, the PC I have there is a P4D 3.0 with 2 gigs of ram and I brought an X1600Pro there so not a simple video card as well. it just sux. big time.
Oh and games run better on XP anyway (if you ever get to load em on Vista).
I just got vista and an 8800 GTX card... biggest mistake ever i havn't got any games on it yet they just dont install, it took me a couple hours to get the network up and running...
Both, I use Vista the most because Im currently patching it, and upgrading but im using my XP for gaming currently sense my Vista has no graphics card and my XP card does not support vista so...yea
