Well, STALKER If you haven't already is one, PC games are nowhere to be seen these days...
Company of heroes and Supreme Commander are good.
If your a fan of Tomb Raider then buy Anniversary.
Love online? Love FPS? Love Fantasy? Get Shadowrun (Only if you mind paying for Windows Live gaming subscription)
Command and Conquer 3 is good try beating the computer on Brutal, it took me and 2 friends on the 360 version to even stand a chance against them!
Halo 2, graphically its not as pretty as other games but Gameplay is great, again if you dont mind paying for a Windows gaming subscription get it.

Wait for:
Enemy Territory Quake Wars
Spore
Crysis

The best value is HL 2 with HL 1, if you don't have any of the games already. You can get into the modding communities, get into a great singleplayer game, get into some of the best multiplayer games ever made, even though they are mostly mods for HL 1. The ones for HL2 aren't free anymore :p

Be careful with Armed Assault, its uber realistic only buy it if you want total realism, but its a fantastic game. I would also add any Half-life game you can afford, all of the Battlefield Series, and all of the Ghost recon series.

Go old-school and get Diablo 2 and have hundreds of hours of fun for about 20 dollars.  Or get an MMO, just dont get WoW....

PC games are nowhere to be seen these days...martin_f

While that may be true, the majority of the PC games that come out (that aren't ported) are very good games, aside from the stupid console variety which 70% of the games suck and/or are half-assed. Besides...PCs are the future of gaming, they always have been.

According to the March issue of GFW most of the market of PC Games is in Europe.. over 60% of game sales come from PC Games.. the reverse is true in the US.. The US wants instant gratification.. Europeans are more patient with their games. This is what GFW suggested was the reason behind low PC Game sales in the US and why console sales are up. If you noticed a lot of great PC Games DO come from Europe nowadays :)  Welcome to EU domination!
