I've had my eye on the Battalion101X8100-U3 and the Alienware M17x but I dont want to drop two grand of my hard earned money on something thats goin to be outdated in six months to a year. I'm just looking for something thats in the two thousand price range, has a sleek look, can run games on highest quality, weight and battery life really isnt an issue. I'm just mostly concerned with performance, and picture quality. I'm not really a hardcore PC gamer yet but I hope to be, I just need the right equipment. Also really the only reason i'm buying a laptop is for gaming, basically it will be like my Xbox 360 or PS3 so I dont need all the little extras. So all I need is a laptop basically made into a badass console for gaming without all the little expensive extras that i'll never use on a PC game.iOverkillUmm, If all you want to do is game. You'd get over twice the performance out of a $2000 desktop over a $2000 lappy.
I hate the hassel of always having to move a desktop, and a laptop seems more convenient because if I feel like playing a game at a friends house or somewhere else I wouldnt have to drag around a desktop with me.Doesn't sound like you need it for on the go, so I'm going to suggest you build a desktop pc.

You can always get a nice case like the Lanboy air(which has carrying handles) to make it easier..
You make a good point. I'm kinda new to the PC world so i'm just looking for a computer that can run the highest specs on games and something thats worthy to keep updating its parts so a nice body style would be nice. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, and thanks for giving me some helpful ideas instead of being a **** and forcing your opinions on me. Thats much appreciated.I just scooted past the replies, I dont think there are to many laptop fans here I Would garner. Check out http://www.notebookreview.com in the discussion part which is there forums. They have sections for every known laptop brand and its heavily used site. I go there everyday for hours, its very wonderous website hehe. Sounds like alienware might be a bit more power under the hood then what you may think. You said something about wanting something to substitue an councel. Well I would suggest maybee an asus republic of gamers G series laptop, maybee a G73/1500$ or G53/1450$. You might also look at an MSI660r/1550$ or sager. The one I would reccomend with you with full confidence knowing its the best gaming laptop there is right now, which is a 15.6 inch sager np 8150 which can be bought from xoticpc. eycelThanks for the info bro, i'm going to check those out and see what the specs are like.
Buy something like the Lenovo IdeaPadY360p $900 then go build you a 600-800 dollar desktop and sit back and enjoy.
this should be sufficent for all gaming

The alienware is better for the following reasons
The alienware use the hd 5870 which is an very powerfull card. All cyberpower models use a card from the geforce 4 series which are known for their excessive heat output and power consumption. Not a good option when buying a laptop or buying a desktop for that matter.
The gtx 460 suffers less from this than the other 4 series but isn't as strong as the hd 5870. They do give sli options for this (two gtx 460 for double the power) but i think you will be in a different price range then (at least 300$) above your 2000$. If your willing to spend that much if would go for one of those cyberpower deals. But this is not a brand name, i've never heard of it , i don't know what the lifetime expectancy will be of these systems.
It will be a long time before you need to upgrade the alienware. The clock of the cpu is only 1.7 ghz but this is to save power the thing will boost to 2.93 ghz
The price range is not that different with the current systems. The 'coming soon' systems are somewhat cheaper though but they ship with a gtx 485 only .
The gtx 480 is known for being to noisy and beign too power hungy (it's the worst of all the 4 series). The gtx 485 is some derived mobile version from it , I shouldn't expect any big improvements on this since it's the same chipset.
I can look into some other manufacturers like acer or ibm but idon't know ifthey will gave the graphical power like an hd 5870.
Everything changes though if youwant a 15 inch screen, i only checked the 17 inch versions

Thanks for the input. Thats alot of facts I didnt know because obviously i'm not that knowledgable of the performances of some of these brands. Alienware seems like a good safe bet. I mean they're already have a good name and is backed by a respectable company like Dell. I've decided against a laptop now since I can buy a desktop with far greater capabilities than a laptop for around the same price, but I would like an Alienware PC that is good for upgrades considering i'm goin to be spending a little over two grand on it I want to be able to keep upgrading it instead of having to buy a whole new PC. Any suggestions?Yeah if you're thinking about a desktop is idd a whole different ballgame. Where are you planning to buy your hardware, i supposse you will not be assembling the hardware yourself. If i know where you would buy we can start choosing parts. If you live in the usa you can choose newegg
If you don't assemble your self you can't use newegg. Then you can go with cyberpower. Where do i begin?evildead6789Alienware seems like a good choice to me, but i'm not sure if its the best though. I just thought that I would find a pretty good PC with a nice design then as time goes on and technology progress's that I could keep upgrading it myself. I didnt plan on creating one from top to bottom which would be really cool if I actually knew what I needed haha. Basically i'm just looking for a good brand that has a cool look and is easily upgradable or would it be a better idea to design my own from a website? By the way what is the best website to make custom computers anyways? I'm sorry I have been asking alot of questions, but I really appreciate you enlightening me on all this.

 There are soo many things wrong with this I don't know where to begin...
First your comparing the 5870 Mobility to the GTX 460. It is not the same as the desktop version of the same number, it's about the performance of the 5770. So 460 would beat it.
Se above. Another 460 $300? They're about $200 for the 1GB overclocked versions. And you could fit that well within a $2000 budget.
You can't upgrade laptops, it is what you buy it as. And that CPU is weak compared to desktop CPU's.
Where'd the 480 come from? The 460 doesn't share all the same traits.
for your information i'm comparing the 5870 mobility with the gtx 460 mobility. I was talking about laptops here, why would i throw a gtx 460 desktop version into the mix. If you add the price of another 460 in sli (they give that option) it's 2300 $ with the cheapest 17 inch performance laptop.simple mathematics really.
I only said upgrade because the op was talking about upgrading , i thought he was talking about laptops and that cyberpower gave that option. I know upgrading isn't something common in laptops. If it would have mattered i would have researched it.
There newest laptops (with sandy bridge cpu) ship with a gtx 485 that's were the gtx480 comes from and not with an gtx 460.
Fine with me if you want to argue, but i can't really see the value of your arguments here

This + this and you'll be set for a few years.
And for a future upgrade just add another 570 and you'll be fine for a few more.
My god, will that thing transform into a Decepticon and start reeking havoc in your house?you said you wanted to buy a laptop that would blow past games for the next few years? No laptop out there exists like that in this world. The thing is even if the cpu in the laptop is good, they are clocked downward and are gimped to save battery life. So newer games will be bottlenecked by your cpu in about an year. Some laptops have high end video cards but they are also gimped. So both the laptop cpu and video card become out dated pretty fast and you won't be able to upgrade them at ALL. So your option is to buy a gaming pc that will blow past any and all games for the next 3-4 years and when that time comes all you'll need to do is upgrade the video card and then blow past all games once again. OR you can buy new laptops every 2 years to blow past games. Your choice bo.
ok i presume you won't be assembling yourself and since cyberpower seems like very good stuff for desktops I chose this for you http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/cart/showcart.aspx?url=%2fsystem%2fGamer_Xtreme_6000&ref=add 1920$ That's one beast of a machine I made exactly the same system for someone you can read all information on that thread .evildead6789
I only said alienware because i though you wanted a laptop, now go with cyberpower and choose the link above for your system if you still need a monitor i would go with t-masta's choice.

I was looking at this same cyberpower PC earlier. I would like to change the body style considering i'll keep upgrading it over the years but will this PC be able to play games like Crysis 2 without a problem?Good point. I'm a dumb*** when it comes to computer hardware at the moment haha, but all the input is helping me out.you said you wanted to buy a laptop that would blow past games for the next few years? I'm assuming you looked at the PC that he posted earlier for sixteen hundred. Well I looked on http://computers.toptenreviews.com/gaming/cyberpower/cyperpower-pc-black-pearl-review.html and found this one to have better specs for three hundred cheaper. What do you guys think about it?iOverkillWhat the hell, how can that thing be $1,300??? The CPU and GPUs are worth my than that by themselves. What am I missing?

No it wouldn't. $1300 is the base price. Which includes i7-950 and 6850. Not the 980x and SLI 580's which was reviewed.

there are two pc's in the card , the first one is 1931$ the second one is 1533 $ What do you want to spend i thought you said two grand so 2000$ If you tell me the budget i can adaptevildead6789I did but I only see one link that shows me a PC that costs twenty one grand haha?
lol could be with those generated sites. Just go to configurator and choose CyberPower P67 Configurator. Then change the videocard 1 to hd 6950 and videocard 2 to hd 6950. Change the powersupply to corsair 1000W and you should have a 1533$ pc. Thrust me it will be the best thing you've ever did evildead6789Would my PC be more efficient and cheap if I just buy seperate parts from newegg and assemble them myself? Then it would be totally customized, idk if most people do that.
