so i bought this baby that i've been anticipating all summer and i felt something like the king of the world. :D the production value is just amazing, with all the wonderful freebies slapped on top of the amazing ( and enhanced ) game. it really got me thinking.....when was the last time the industry has implemented such marketing strategy? strategy that really brings value added to products and satisfies the consumers directly and fully? i really like what CDPro did with this Enhanced Edition, and the respect and dedication shown by CDPro is something the industry can really learn from. anyway, just my 2 cents.

I've yet to download the patch and update my game but is there a detailed list of what they have "enhanced" exactly?

I assume performance is enhanced because that game had some bad loading times and laggy areas.

so far as i can tell, the material changes are mostly subtle -- the real overhaul is the game performance.

usually i wouldn't recommend buying a game twice....but Enhanced Edition is really worthy of a 2nd buy. open the box and i guarantee you would feel the satisfaction immediately. :D

I'm getting this soon! Can't wait, because I missed the Witcher when it was first released and held off for this.

Though I also want to get BIA: HH and a Crysis: Warhead Advent Calendar.

I'll probably buy it when it's a little cheaper. I already played the original version.

The increased performance, shorter loading times, and the extra area & quests are what appeal to Herrick the most.

true, you can do that. but for those who REALLY love the game and are looking to own a collector edition of some sort, definitely get the retail version. it's one of the best deals i've had in years and i would go as far as recommending a 2nd purchase, which i normally won't.

I just rebought the game a few days ago. Haven't started playing it yet but it's a really nice package of stuff that you get. The game is my favorite RPG of all-time so I'm glad to support it with another purchase; I bought it the day it came out last year. Another plus is it doesn't come with that Securom/install limit crap and it's not published by Elite @$$holes (EA). Always support for the little guys.

Has the performance improved on Vista pcs? Is the "if you open inventory after journal update, game crashes" bug gone?

I found this video on Youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNjlW5W1B_Y

Definitely some improvements made there. Notice the voice of the young Witcher, whatever his name was? He sounded like a wimp before. I just hope they improve on Triss. God, she was painful to listen to sometimes (luckily, most of the voice-acting in the game was more bearable than that and sometimes even excellent). So much so that I tried to download that mod that changed the voice-acting to Polish with English subtitles, but the subs too often didn't stay on-screen long enough and I kept missing lines :P, so I just put up with the occasional bad English dialogue.

You better be able to download it for free. I Think PC debs are going try to do what console devs do and start charging us for things that were normally free like patches and map packs. :(

The game isn't that expensive. It's $36 on newegg and i've seen it from anywhere between $35 and $40 on many other sites.

Thanks.

Unfortunately the servers are very SLOW, and the downloads fail after various amounts of time. :(

I'm trying to download the patch and it's giving me an error. I tried putting the installer and language files together in one folder like IGN said to do, and it still doesnt work. How did you guys do it?

Downloaded and installed everything and...

Enhanced indeed. Although the voice acting should have have been this good from the start. What a difference it makes. Triss is even hotter now. And I was so good in the sack, she gave me a "Get some free sex" card. :)

its a great update. i downloaded it all and plonked it on a disc (and found out that my rewriter doesent support lightscribe :( )., then plonked that in my witcher box.

i have one niggeling problem though...the games graphics gets a little fuzzy after a conversation. i know about the depth of field option and i have made very sure its off. no difference. i tried a few suggestions at the witcher forum also...but it didnt really help. hopefully a driver update or a patch will rectify it.

overall though...very happy with it. translation is much better and there loads of nice little touches. everythign feels more polished overall too imho.
