I think the internet will just explode after that. Good be a good social experiment to see how many people will freak out.

The internet wouldn't explode but we'd have a lot more of the awful things about WoW spread through the internet. Also I predict there'd be at least a dozen suicides.

Im sure Bliz would have many backup servers to prevent anything like that ever hapening. In the interests of peoples mental stability as a result of WoW withdrawal symptoms.

Blizzard would send men with enough drugs to make its player base think its Tuesday for the duration of the shut-down.

Blizzard isn't as naive as Sony. It can only happen if they plan on shutting it down (maintenance, patch, reset, new patch gone wrong chaos over fixing)

What's the longest wow has been down? I've only ever really gotten a few free days tacked onto my subscription due to unplanned downtime over the course of 6 years.

With how much crying there is on the weekly planned downtime even after 6 years.. There would be huge amounts of crying, some sounding pretty pathetic as if they were denied their fix of drugs.. And this is coming from the WoW player.

I think it was almost 2 days - down for good -, as for certain features being unavailable (like the patch gone wrong in WotLK) about 5-6 days, you couldn't play dungeons, raids and pvp.

I wouldn't care I quit WoW last years after 6 years of play, and won't be going back. And I was talking to a real life friend that still plays and found out that 90% of my guild that I played with have quit because of lack of updates and when there is a update it is Vanilla content moved up to level 85. And now the guild is thinking of disbanding after 6 years of raiding.

As much as many wouldn't like to admit, WoW has passed it's prime. And when Guild Wars 2 and TOR come out I fear WoW will start it's huge decline.

If you don't care then why do you fear WoW's decline?

People will be angry with Blizzard and then they'll be back playing WOW just like they normally would.

I imagine the mods would be working overtime to deal with litany of "Wahh Wah Wah" topics on the PC and WOW boards.

Well, I'm sure Blizzard would compensate subscribers in one way or another. CCP did something similar to EVE Online when its servers went down for like a couple days. They merely rewarded players with free skill points that would have otherwised been earned during the down time. But if WoW was down for any period of extended time, then perhaps we'd be seeing the cavern dwellers walking out of their basements and into the real world with disbelief on their faces because they've forgotten what it was like to actually be outside!

Open eyes of amazement: "you mean the real world doesn't look like Azeroth...?"
