Funny because i was deathbored in warhead and when i finished far cry 2 i wanted more:(...no sarcasm, i meant what i just typed, its kinda funny but thats what happened to me. What is it that you don't like about Crysis really?[QUOTE="SgtMoreless"]
Crysis by far. A game that makes you sleep is not a game. period.

It always makes me laugh when people think you have to fight at every guard post - figuring out how to get past them with minimal fighting is part of what makes the game fun. If you can't figure it out - that's not the game's fault.
Born_Lucky
can you share these fun ways of dealing with the respawning guard posts? for me the missions should be the fun part, travelling to and from them should usually be as quick and hassle free as possible
and how did it not annoy you that everyone in the game wants to kill you and will open fire immediately upon sight and then chase you to the death? did it not affect the atmosphere or immersion having such an unrealistic and extreme npc reaction to your presence? did you ever think it was unnecessary and counter productive to actually having fun?

Hear, hear!I too fail to see how bad design choices are the player's fault.
I enjoyed both games. However I have issues with both for very diffrent reasons.
Both games are great looking with a solid shooter core. But both have issues.
Crysis.. The game is all bling and very little content. It's a very generic shooter that does little that hasent been done before. Nothing wrong with that and it's an enjoyable handful of hours. There's no sense of ambition or wanting to do something new and cool beyond the graphics.. it's another shooter with another series of vehicles with poor handling with another generic story set in a generic series of linear levels.. it all ends in another generic boss fight at the end
Far Cry 2 is not just a shooter.. I love that they tried to do so much more with the game. The day and night cycles, the openended world, the African setting which is both well suited for the theme and very unique in the industry. The real frustration with far Cry 2 is that it could have been so much more.. it almost is so much more but a couple of glaring design issues keep holding it back from being all it could be. The checkpoints, the constant kamikaze soldiers who'll try to ram your Jeep even if they are driving a bloody ford pinto. In an openworld game like this you obviously send a lot of time traveling around. If the traveling ends up becoming frustrating, tiresom or borring it will spoil the rest of the game regardless of how interesting or good it might be.

im 100% with you on fc2.
however you seem to have forgotten the 2 things (imo) which made crysis excellent, the nanosuit and the moddable weapons.

True I did exaggerate in making the point about Crysis being generic :) It did have some new elements, in all fairness it also used physics in a way few (if any) shooters have really done before, in addition to the elements you mention. However I still felt that it played largely like 'just another shooter with really really good graphics', especially in contrast to FC2 which tried so hard to break the formula.[QUOTE="dakan45"]Funny because i was deathbored in warhead and when i finished far cry 2 i wanted more:(...no sarcasm, i meant what i just typed, its kinda funny but thats what happened to me. (Also hapend in clear sky...too similar with the first) There is not something that i dont like i just didnt have that much fun overall, i had more fun with cod4,stalker,rainbow six vegas 2 or arma 2 . I dont really like extra features in the game like the nanosuit, i just couldnt get immersed by the nanosuit gameplay, it just didnt get into me:( As i stated above i like more generic fps, thats all. In other words, its kinda ironic and funny that i did not find crysis revolutionary like most people do just because it was not generic and i dont really care for cutting edge graphics. Still its a great game and i give it 8.5/10[QUOTE="SgtMoreless"]

the respawn time in farcry 2 really turned me off. whats the point of killing those guard post if theyre just going to respawn in a min or 2. this forces you to go stealthy around the guard post everytime and can get really annoying
crysis is at its best, farcry 2 could have been a better game or better than crysis
Crysis, by far.
Far Cry 2 is fun for a few hours, and then you realise that once again, Ubisoft have made 10% of a game and then pressed Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V. On paper it should be incredible, but it's just unbearably repetitive. I reached the second act thinking "okay, they'll mix it up now", but of course they didn't do that, and I was doing exactly the same thing I was before. There was no point in carrying on, I had already seen everything the game had to offer.
I think that Far Cry 2 is much better than Crisis.
Details and Story are better, and that's good enough for me.

im so utterly confused with what you just said, explain to me what story Farcry 2 has, apart from variations of "go to this spot and kill this man, cause hes bad"
Crysis is a better game overall, but the setting and linearality (near the end) really turns me off. I don't like the weapons in the game, aliens and the general feel in the game. I love Far Cry 2 way more just because of its believable setting and beautiful scenery. Of course, the game had terrible story and loads of repetitiveness
Yeah it had lots of problems and could have been improved vastly with some simple additions but at the end I still enjoyed a lot.I know most will go with Crysis. Which is fine. For me I had much more fun with Far Cry 2.

The awesome plot twist in the end, and the feeling the game gives you, trust no one, everybody dies , africa wins. Moral lessons in the conflict and what can it lead into.[QUOTE="TheWalrusKing"][QUOTE="vaczec"]

I really liked Far Cry 2, and I also thought the story was arguably better than Crysis, although the presentation could've been a little better. Still, though, it's not as good as Crysis; Crysis is almost TOO good.[QUOTE="dakan45"][QUOTE="TheWalrusKing"]The awesome plot twist in the end, and the feeling the game gives you, trust no one, everybody dies , africa wins. That plot twist in the end was awesome wasnt it?
Crysis was easily better than that boring brown game with Far Cry stamped on it.
Although I found it funny that leading up to Crysis' release the developers were saying oh yes we've learned a great deal from Far Cry, we learnt most people didn't like the mutants saying it changed what they loved about the game. So what do they do? The exact same thing of course.
We all fell in love with the great gameplay footage of Crysis, hiding in the follage and attaching a sniper scope and silencer to the gun then taking people out, then quickly running in grabbing guys going cloak etc etc and it seemed as if they had just improved on the good parts of Far Cry. Then I was running up and down a carrier spamming rockets into the bosses weak point thinking to myself... no... they really didn't learn at all.
How could you ruin the gameplay more than freezing the entire environment into something you can't use to your advantage... then making your enemies be able to fly around and detect you instantly. Silly move.
