lol maybe that could be but right now it's real nice

There's no bottleneck there, just a GPU which isn't powerful enough. To get better fps out of crysis, you would need to replace your CPU and GPU> But for one game is it worth it?

Yes, there is. Have you owned that card to be professional in how the things work on it? I had a Core2Duo E4600 overclocked to 3.42, 4GB of RAM and 8800GT. With those specs I could easily max out Crysis at 1680x1050 all Very high with no AA. Butter smooth. So please, people, STOP TALKING S * * T WHEN YOU DO NOT KNOW SOMETHING.
Wow, hold up! I have a E8400 3.0 ghz, 4 gigs ddr2 800 mhz, and a Bfg gtx 285 ocx. I guess I must have a bottle nect as well because at 1920x1080 the games frame rate jumpes around to much. I can be at 50 fps and the in the 20's just like that. I actually hate the way crysis runs on 1920x1080. I dont know what elese to upgrade every other game I have runs perfect maxxed.

It's not that you cant max out Crysis at that res and have an enjoyable experience with any single GPU on the market now. GTX295 and a 4870x2 is a different story.
Are you honstly going to take the advice of a guy who says that he maxes out Crysis no problem on an 8800gt at 1680x1050?

NO, I never beleived him. I had sapphire 3870 which is very close to a 8800gt so I know the truth. Are byou saying I need a a gtx 295 to run crysis decently at my rez? I have beaten crysis/crysis warheard but the fact they run so sh**** still bothers me.

if that was all it took to max crysis we wouldn't be needing any new gpu's to come out.no bottleneck, but a better gpu and/or cpu would give a boost. On a side note, why do people keep claiming they can max out crysis with a 8800? Are they playing at like 10 fps?
Yeah my 8800gt with full aa and resolution with max settings i'm probably getting somewhere around 15fps without any action. lol

Of course, don't believe. Why would you? I'm just super happy in decieving people to go and buy 8800GT so I can have the best system of all of you. I say again, I did max out Crysis. Ok, I lied, it was not BUTTER smooth, but it WAS F****NG DECENT GAMEPLAY. And I know it, you do not need to believe me, I don't care. One thing: Resolution has a huge impact in Crysis on some (or all) ATI and nvidia cards. When set to 1440x900 with 4xAA it never goes below 28FPS. Even when I drop the AA, no changes (29FPS FRAPS average, don't have the log now but will prove). Same setting on 1680x1050 brings me minimum FPS in the range of 18, and maximum like 31FPS.

Well yeah. Without AA I was getting around 18FPS Crysis DX10 Very High maxed 1680x1050. But in Crysis, everything above 18~19 is playable. Lol, if oyu get that FPS in Far Cry 2, you can easily kill yourself how bad it is :D

I honestly couldn't stand 20 FPS, It needs to at least be above 30 for me. I remember when I would play CS:S on a dying rig and it was really bad.no athlon CPU, even the 6000 can handle crysis at high and maintain a decent fps, wait untill u get later in the game and then u will see. Chris_53Is it really going to get so intense that I'm going to have to go to medium settings or lower my resolution because right now i'm running smooth as can be at all high except shadows medium and game effects low. I don't like all the game effects anyway which works out for me. I'm at 1680x1050 with x2aa. I've gotten into some battles with like 10-15 guys shooting at me and vehicle as well with explosions and stuff with no slow down at all. What's so hard on the system further into the game. I love the way it runs right now.

[QUOTE="streetridaz"]I wouldn't worry about upgrading my CPU. Yes you can get a small performance increase with a newer/better processor but not a huge one: I.E. my processor sits at 2.7GHZ stock and the performance increase from 2.7-3.2 (maybe it was 3.3) in games is negligible. I use ATI tray tools and constantly monitor my FPS and I got all of 3-4 (maybe) fps more. In fact, I run at stock setting unless I rip/enocode music or movies because the increase was not that big. I guess what I am saying is.... Your stuck, your system is good enough that it will cost a couple hundred to make it worth while to upgrade. That's just my opinion though if you do decide to upgrade CPU or GPU (video card) send me a PM and I can walk you through it.i don't know the first thing about upgrading the cpu and I wouldn't even know what I could successfully put into my motherboard. I don't know how all that stuff works. i mean do I just buy a cpu and plug it in? lol i'm totally clueless there. I would know how to stick a new gfx card in and some ram but it sounds like there really isn't much I can do other then putting in a better cpu huh. Can I overclock at all without adding a new cooling system. I don't even now what i got right now. lol someone else built the rig and I just got it. I know the cpu has a fat fan on it with a big old heatsink lol and then just the gpu stock fan. i don't know if I would need more cooling or something. I mean the system doesn't even get hot other then the hdd. I need a fan for that. lol

Very nice, I always liked Intel's ability to OC and that is a ridiculously large OC! What blows me away is the i7's ocing ability o.O. I had my biggest OCing learning curve with this Kuma chip as it was my first processor with L3 cache. But I love this chip, unlocked multiplier :) For you Kuma are you using stock cooling or is it after market cooler? Because I want to Overclock my CPUYes... No voltage increase by the way. But don't think it's just a BIOS button you have to push. On my motherboard, over 2.85 would not even boot. One day, I settled down sad, set it to 2.8, gone to computer properties to check did it apply the OC, and voila. The system was running stably at 3.36. At first I thought it was a bug. Then I got CPU-Z andit also reported this. The trick is to set the motherboard performance boost to EXTREME. To hell, these Intel chips really OC like hell. It adds like 2x times frequency. 280x10+280x2=2800+560=3360. Later I added a little more overclock and achieved an amazing stable 1GHz OC. Gigabyte boards rule.

Well The older X2's 5600 or better arent good overclockers. The max Ive seen a X2 6000 is 3.4 Ghz over its stock 3Ghz , And It is possible to play Crysis on high settings with an average of 30ish fps with a 8800GT on Xp. The key is to play at 1280x1024 or 1440x900 both resolutions are very close to each other that performance is about equal. Also run the game with no AA, and installing the game on another harddrive helps too.[QUOTE="TerroRizing"][QUOTE="streetridaz"] Is it really going to get so intense that I'm going to have to go to medium settings or lower my resolution because right now i'm running smooth as can be at all high except shadows medium and game effects low. It runs perfect the way it is now with 2aa. I just like the aa so much better then upping the details and playing at 1440 x 900 visually is huge for me. I want to keep the res at highest. it just looks cleaner to me.
LOL, That video card must have all of the records as the fastest 8800gt on Futuremark.;)
That cracks me up.
I didn't mean highest. it's at 1650x1050 all high other then shadows on medium and game effects are at low with 2aa.
oh. lol sorry it's hard to tell sometimes. I'm already getting the.....your cpu and gpu shouldn't even be able to play at high blah blah. I'm just a noob here. lol i'm telling it like it is because i want help. Consoles are my gaming machines. I haven't gamed on a pc since I had the 1st gen dell xps like 11 years ago. now I got this rig and to me it is a freaking monster. lol I know to you guys it's probably just medium specs but to me the raw horsepower is crazy!

Personally I needed to up my voltage in order to get it stable with Orthos at 3.1, but because of the L3 it was a little tricky to do. Have you ever OCed before?Yes... No voltage increase by the way. ever I know nothing. I overclocked my old msi nvidia 5600 with msi overclocking software that came with the card. lol so that doesn't really count.

Crysis is tough on any machine. It's not worth upgradeing your machine for just Crysis. I bet almost every other game would run fine on your rig at high settings. I grew up with consoles too but between mods and the mouse and keyboard pc gaming is more fun, imo. Stuff like this and drivers and other tweeks can be a pain but it's worth it, imo.

Download Rivatuner from Guru3d and install it, I'll talk you through it.
oh yeah I can run everyother game on ulta high or highest settings with highest res and aa and it runs like butter. Crysis though damn. lol that freaking game is a beast. Looks so damn sick though! lol
CPU and Video card are both bottlenecks for Crysis at 1680x1050. You should be able to run it fine at "high" settings with no AA/AF. (NOT very high)
So i'm going to play with rivatuner later today and I'm wondering whats the best thing to use to benchmark dx10 and vista 64. I saw those mark03 and mark05 demos or whatever were only dx9 and xp/vista does that make a difference or do you know what I should use to benchmark after oc'ing
Ok, TBH, there is no need to upgrade anything. Seen as though your computer can run most games on high, there's no worry. I would wait untill you're playing low/medium on most games and then replace your whole computer. This will mean you get a better PC for your money when you do get it. There's no point upgrading now, as then in 6 months you'll want to upgrade again. As if you want a better GPU, you'll need a better CPU, which will be a different socket type and therefore a different mobo.
Is texture pop in normal? Back when I had my 8600GT 256MB there was a ton of texture pop in now I have a 9800GTX 512MB card and theres still some texture pop in but its more off into the distance. Is 512MB not enough for Crysis. I'm running at 1280x1024 all high no AA (getting good frames 40+ most of the time but texture and objects that pop in are annoying).

GPU is a definite problem, CPU could use some upgrading. NOTE: What's your PSU and budget so we can suggest upgrades if you want to go that route?
EDIT: There not very bad, GPU's still holding fine i'm just saying for better performance you'd need to upgrade.

Are you talking about my comp because I have a quad core.
if you dont what texture pop-up you need to make a autoexec.cfg using notepad and place it in your crysis folder with these commands in it. e_lod_ratio=6 e_lod_min=0 e_lods=1 e_view_dist_ratio_detail=25 e_view_dist_ratio_vegetation=55 e_view_dist_ratio=50 e_vegetation_min_size=0 e_max_view_dst_spec_lerp=1 e_vegetation_sprites_distance_custom_ratio_min=1 e_vegetation_sprites_distance_ratio=1 e_detail_materials_view_dist_xy=2048 e_detail_materials_view_dist_z=128 will reduce pop-up quite a bit will cost a few fps but its worth it for the added immersion. Is texture pop in normal?
