Alpha Protocol a little but, honestly, I'm not looking forward to anything really. I think the cRPG genre is kind of dead and has been replaced by the console friendly action-rpg which is a genre I don't really care for.

Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas, and King's Bounty: The Armoured Princess.

Everything else looks a bit mediocre - although I might be looking forward to Gothic 4 (or whatever the Gothic decs are currently making).

As a big fan of TBSs and RTSs I will go with Kings bounty expansion.

As for the rpgs I believe Dragon Age and Fallout expansion.

Waitng for a real rpg. Witcher and Diablo 3 are action-RPGs.

I want to say Alpha Protocol, but since the developers are following the stupid trend of, "aiming should depend on the player's skill, not the character's," I can't say I'm extremely excited. If that's the only bad RPG-aspect of the game, then I'll get over it but I'm worried about it being too dumbed-down. I'm also taking a wait-and-see attitude with Dragon Age. I personally think Bioware is one of the most overrated developers ever, so I need to see more before I get excited. So for now, I'll say Diablo 3, but Divinity 2 could be great as well.

It's stupid only if they make it stupid. It worked well in Stalker, where it takes hours to master a weapon.

I'm not waiting for anything.

I still need to beat Gothic III, The Witcher, Drakensang, Fallout 3. And don't even get me started on all the Japenese RPGs I gotta beat.

Um...kinda I guess. It's more like NWN2 (sans the focus on a group of controllable characters) I think though. Divine Divinity 1 was like a mix between Diablo and "real" RPG's. The action and leveling/skills/items work a lot like Diablo/TQ but the game world has a lot more RPG trimmings like open world questing, moral choices, a lot of dialog and NPCs, and stuff like that. Wonderful game, and I have very high hopes for the sequel.

Check out the thread I made about it for more info:

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26801685

I also love TQ (as you can tell from my avatar) :D

It doesn't take just a few minutes to learn the ballistics, ammo types, upgrades, various range adjustments etc. That's why so many people complain the shooting sucks or don't use some guns "becase they're useless".

I guess that's also why Clear Sky almost forces you to use the pistols and shotguns in the Swamps.

There's a difference between an RPG with shooting elements and a FPS with RPG elements. Clearly in an FPS, it should depend on player-skill. While I couldn't get in to STALKER, I can appreciate what they did with the gunplay.

Although I am waiting with much fervor for Diablo III it really isn't IMO an RPG. For those who consider it then, yes, I am waiting for it. Aside from that, Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 are on my list of RPG games I will absolutely play the day they get released.

Can't remember about ME 2 but I think it too will be released at the beginning of 2010 (at least that's when they should release Gothic 4, in January).

Gothic 3 is great, with the latest community patch and if you give it time to get used to it, it can be quite awesome :).

One thing tho, STAY AWAY from Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods (kind of like a standalone expansion for G3), it's unplayable, not even Crysis runs that bad on my PC.

Sadly cRPGs are almost dead, but little by little they are coming back, and soon they'll replace those consolised action false RPGs!

I'm dying to play:

  • Divinity II: Ego Draconis, from the great Larian Studios! The developers talk directly to the people in their foruns and accept ideas from the players. I have no doubt this cRPG will be as good as Divine Divinity.
  • Age of Decadence: an indie cRPG that claims to be a medieval Fallout 2. Graphics are very simple, but I care most for the RPG system.
  • Dragon Age Origins: I hope it brings back the old cRPG magic to the mainstream.
  • Fallout: New Vegas: I think it'll be more Fallout than Fallout 3.
  • Arcania: A Gothic Tale: let's see if the new developers will keep the game quality of this series, but without bugs and performance problems.
  • Risen: From the Gothic series developers I expect a great cRPG, but I'm afraid of bugs and poor performance.
  • King's Bounty: Armored Princess: The Legend was the best game I've played last year. Let's see the improvements of this stand-alone expansion.

How do you know it's generic if you haven't played it already?

Unless there are demos or betas out.
