Bulldozer is AMD's long awaited new generation of CPU's.

They will bring 8 core CPU's to the ordinary consumer market.

Well if you had bulldozer CPU, I could have said, but you just set that up, with your wording.

Video and photo editors would use them for rendering etc. Also you gotta look at it in a futuristic point, considering most games are using 4 cores NOW. It's only a matter of time before hexacores become the 'standard' amount for games and so on.

people told me 4 cores was too much back in 2006. My dual core was outclassed in no time and was proven to be holding me back

People get hanged up to much on the 8 core thing without really understanding it's architecture.

Bulldozer can have 80 cores for all I care, The important thing is performance and price and both seem to be around Sandybridge's 2600K.

That's like saying hyperthreading is excessive.

It is something everyone should watch out for, especially those consumers who are wanting an upgrade. That being said i can't wait to see what Ivy Bridge will offer, Intel never seem to disappoint me.

It is not "full" cores. It is basically an improved version of hyperthreading, so the 8 cores are actually 4 "modules" of 2 cores each, making this a quad core with an improved version of hyperthreading. Frostbite 2.0 can use up to eight cores.

Thanks for the information. I might have to upgrade later on down the road. I think my i5 2500k will do just nicely right now.

Ya.... remember when people were saying the same thing with Quad-Cores... that Dual-Core was enough, and now a lot of games are optimized for Quad-Cores. Besides, You can use their new Turbo feature.
