Vista for now. I'll only migrate to Windows 7 if there are any compelling reasons to do so (DX11 perhaps?). If I didn't play games I would definitely run a Linux distribution though.BlueBirdTSsame here, Ubuntu FTW.

I've been wanting to try out Ubuntu for a while now. Is it easy to dual boot Ubuntu with Windows?
Just now I'm on XP SP3, I don't hate Vista but as I monly have a single core CPU and 2GB RAM XP performs better on my rig, I'm always concerned that if your OS is hogging your systems resources, what must your games be like if its bad enough them having the normally high requirments they do(I'm aiming at Crysis and the like here,I have an 8800GTS 512 so I can just about play it in XP, on vista my CPU usage is like 100% and stil its unplayable).

I had vista for 5 months dual booted and I decided to whipe it so I could try windows 7. Vista isn't bad, but I don't see the need for me to use it, so I'm sticking with XP until Windows 7 is released. I'm very pleased with the Windows 7 beta right now though. They seem to have fixed everything I didn't like with vista.
This article seems to be relating greatly to the subject at hand:

A majority of people here are running Vista. Hmm. I thought there would more rage against Vista here.
Vista 64...and I am never going back. dnuggs40
agreed,
same here, but i might decide to move forward to 7, if it gives me a good reason... i mean i can run dx11 fully on vista, as long as i have a fully dx11 card..
atleast MS learned from their mistake about the dx10/vista only business.
Windows XP x64bit. Planning to switch to vista x64.arijit_2404Completed my move to Vista x64 Ultimate yesterday.
Vista Ultimate x64.....Many of the issues that plagued Vista early on were resolved when SP-1 was released. Now that developers have had a chance to catch up with it, no one is seeing the driver compatibility problems that many experienced when Vista was first released. If I had to point out any problems that exists, it would be, can't get some older games to run on it (Deux Ex and System Shock 2)...... and it does use a lot of system resources, so one needs a good machine to run it well. Other than that, Vista is a solid OS.

gog.com, and there will be more companies like it in the future, are making alot of the older games, vista compatible.

That's good to hear...it would be a real shame not to be able to play some of the real Cla**ics (can't believe that this is on GS forbidden word list..... (Deus Ex & System Shock 2) to name a few I can't get to run on Vista. Like I said before, other than a few minor issues, Vista is a solid as a rock OS.
GS's spell check/forbidden word list = EPIC FAILURE

I have gog.com listed in my favorites and I did sign up as a member, but never looked over the site much. I'll have to go back and review it much closer to see about getting those games installed and running on my system........thxxx for the heads up .......:)

no problem man, just a being helping another being out.
Vista, but why did you even put linux there? Running games in wine/crossover is not ideal... they run slower, but compatibility is pretty good. Only problems with wine/emulators(wine is not an emulator) is that they are not low level, which in turn means they have a hard time acessing physical things on your computer like a pcmcia slot or an express slot. Anyway, vista is good I don't get all the haters.JigglyWiggly_
Vista sucks! I don't get it how gamers can even touch that unintuitive useless non-gaming-system operating system.
XP is way better especially if you want to run games that Vista isn't supporting them. I wish Windows 7 will be better.
64 bit Vista on my main machine and Windows 7 beta on my older PC. Satisfied with both.d3v1s3
I wonder how many games you can run :?
Case for using Vista -
- It's a complete rewrite from a blank page - no weird old spaghetti code.
- Cleanest, most secure OS ever developed - yep. It is.
- Solid as a brick - the OS I'm typing this on hasn't crashed. Ever. And it's been years.

What are you talking about? when Vista was released people that were getting into the Recycle Bin and then shocked after seeing the lousy black screen.
You are basically right for 2010.
Vista 32 bit
Best OS for gaming i think.Ellifort
I wonder why people are 'thinking', just be sure (XP :D).
Windows Vista Ultimate is the Best Operating System For Gaming. It has capability to use 8GB of Ram, and enhances Video capacity. EtcFurnish
