What RTS / Game should I get?

Well, I'm upgrading my comp this week and was wondering what game I should get with it.

I like FPS's but wanted to play an RTS real bad. Thing is, the last one I played was Warcraft 3 lol and that game broke (won't read from my drive for some reason).

Anyway, I was thinking about getting back into the RTS genre but all I find are complicated games that look ok at best. Though, Battle for Middle Earth sounded and looks cool. Should I get this?

*I wasn't trying to be ignorant about RTS's by saying that complicated comment. Though, I wish I could learn a cool RTS game and have fun :D.

Age of Empires 3 looked cool too and looked similar to Warcraft 3 to me for some reason.

Should I get that instead? I'm looking to spend just like 20 - 30 bucks on a game btw lol too.

I would rocemend the "generals" series, you might also want to try world in conflict and company of heroesyasiralrazak

Seriously though, World in Conflict and Company of Heroes are probably my favourite RTS games of all time.

Well if I get all that i'm planning to order, my specs are as following:

1. AMD 4200 Dual Core AM2 Socket (But I might just stay with my 3800 Single Core for now to save some money)

2. Sapphire x1650XT video card

3. 2 gigs of RAM (definitely going to upgrade to this from my 1 gig of ram)

4. 250 gig HDD (I have an 80 gig hdd now but with only 10 gigs left)

5. 450 watt PSU and 3 fans all together in the case

What games should I get knowing these specs?

I played the Rome: Total War demo and it was ok, just reminded me too much of the game Kessen for PS2.

I thought it was a little slow paced but maybe that's just me. I kinda liked Warcraft 3 alot but I'm willing to try new things. Is Command and Conquer similar to it?

BUT its worth a choice. I'm really looking at Dawn of War though cause that looks cool as hell. Command & Conquer 3 looks cool too but it looks like all that it features are tanks... But I guess its cool w/e.

Go to the Blizzard Store Website. Create an account and register your WC3 CD key. After that, you should be able to download WC3 for free on the site with all the updates, and it doesn't require the CD.

Dawn of War and Supreme Commander Platnium editions and Company of Heroes are must buy's

However World in COnflict is the best RTS games ever made.

if you are trying to decide between dawn of war and company of heroes, I would get the warhammer 40k game. Company of heroes is kind of like DOW 2 in a WW2 setting, except much more indepth. If you are just getting back into RTS games from WC3 you won't want to jump into company of heroes. The genre has changed so much in 5 years youw ill be totally overwhelmed.

try Dawn of war the games are great, and if you are unsure just buy it off ebay I did it was like 4 dollars.

Don't get the Dawn of War platinum edition, get the Dawn of War Complete Collection, it has Dawn of War GOTY+all of it's expansions, I also recommend Company of Heroes... infact just get ever Relic game.ZuluEcho14

I found it at the Uk Amazon.com but um... I live in US lol.

Im gonna order the Platinum Edition if you don't mind cause that's the only one on Newegg. I have to order everything at Newegg cause I don't have extra money for shipping on various sites.

Is it gonna be worth it? Looks like a fun game.

Will I be able to max it out though? Just wonderin :D.

yeah, all you need is the CD key, and then you can download the game. i only found out about this feature right around when Diablo 3 was released, and i registered my SC and my WC3 right away, and tested it out. works well.

and you should be able to enjoy DoW. i loved it, especially Dark Crusade. Havn't tried soulstorm, but shouldn't be too bad.

Because A) Homeworld 1 and 2 are almost impossible to find in stores, and B) they both do not run very well on Vista.

HOmeworld is an awesome RTS better then most.

5. Supreme Commander Platinum Editon

Starcraft 2 and Dawn of War 2 will also be coming out somtime next year.
