hey now - i don't like halo much, but this game is being made by ensemble - the creators of age of empires and more, many consider them ensemble to be one of the best rts developers in the world - and it's fair to say they are amongst the top five or so
so i think it's best to be objective, assuming it's good or bad because it's halo, or because it's console, is a little silly
personally, i think gamespot will give it around 9.0 - this is 9.0 as a console rts - in the same way that halo is beyond mediocrity in comparison with the best the pc has to offer, halo wars will be pretty awful when compared with stuff like dawn of war, company of heroes, supreme commander, the total war games... ad infinitum
but, by console standards - and surely the game must be reviewed by console standards - it'll be pretty great... i remember playing command and conquer way back on the playstation with a pad, and it did work pretty well - ensemble is already looking at ways of making the game play well with a pad, and there's always the possibility of mouse support anyway, and ensemble is really good at making rts games
somewhere around 9.0
Why isnt there a lower score... I hope it gets under 8, I dislike Halo games.ElectricNZThat's just pathetic...to wish that a game will flop.
halo wars or halo 3? 2 different games...zero9167Doesn't really matter......Neither have been announced for the PC... This thread belongs in the 360 forum.
[QUOTE="A-S_FM"]So "console standards" is like the Special Olympics of gaming?but, by console standards - and surely the game must be reviewed by console standards -

when it comes to pc native genres - yes.. how many rts games has there been on consoles in the last decade, and how many of them have been good? and given the choice, how many people would prefer to play the same game on a console as opposed to a pc? the answer to all three is very few
the 360 has like two rts games or something, it wouldn't make sense to judge the quality of the game against the finest the pc has to offer, when you review a game, you judge its quality and its quality relative to its peers
and if the game has no peers... it wouldn't make sense to say we've seen this a hundred times before on the pc so we're only going to give it 7, it does nothing new at all, because it was on an entirely different system, and the entire game is more or less new by the standards of the system - most console gamers, at least the masses, probably couldn't even tell you what rts stands for - halo wars is going to be an entirely new experience of most of the people who buy it
different machine = different standards

I think he put it here so the second and third options got at least one vote. A majority of 360 see halo as lifelike and will vote for it accordingly, some PS3 and Wii gamers pretend to hate Halo because there deepdown just jealous, as PC gamers(some of which also own 360s) have better games as well as the Halo games themselves and might hold the key to better results.
