Battlefield 3 is $60, haven't seen anyone complaining about that.

BF3 ia a mp game, has legs and will last years. None of those things are part of Rage.

True. And I read somewhere that Rage's MP will be an all-out vehicular combat mode. No deathmatch and all that stuff. I'm all for new MP modes, but I still would have liked for a regular deathmatch mode to be in there.Yeah because that will provide 100's of hours of multiplayer goodness![QUOTE="streetridaz"][QUOTE="cain006"]

Inconsistancy
Maybe Rage will provide 40-100 hours of sp replayability goodness, who knows... anyway neither are 60$ unless you refuse to buy the game via dd...48$ for both of them on pre-order. So this whole thread is a useless complaint.
How does this argument work? You can use the same 20% off codes to make a $50 game $40. I don't really care if games are a little bit more expensive on launch, but that argument is pretty weak.
Gold price per ounce:
2000: $ 300
2011: $ 1.500
I guess americans never heard about a concept called inflation? Your american dollar is getting worth less and less by the second ...

$60
not happy
Try buying games at $90-$120 and then complain...First of all, I love Australia, but its really not that simple. I was lucky enough to live in Australia for 6 months about 10 years ago and it was almost a 2 AUD = 1 USD conversion. Now, its about 1 = 1. Meanwhile here, things have pretty much stayed the same as far as game prices go for a long time. Those huge changes in affect more than just game prices.
For example, what is your minimum wage? I did a quick look at it looks like it is $15 an hour. Its $7.50 here. Again double the difference so its not a surprise that games cost more.
That's my point. When it was 2AUD = 1US fair enough we have to import the games.... but now it's 1-1 and we still pay $40-$50 more on each game. Wages are the same as any other country, low and highs.....still, even if the wage is a bit better here, the difference is still big.[QUOTE="Ondoval"][QUOTE="cain006"]

I'm all for new MP modes, but I still would have liked for a regular deathmatch mode to be in there. It is quite odd imo that we're not seeing a proper dm, team dm, ctf or koth type mode.... I wonder how hard it would be to mod that stuff in, id's always been pretty good with mp, not revolutionary for a long time, but it's been great fun.in canada, I can get it on steam tax free. So ill save 13% getting it on pc lol. Im not too worried about 10 bucks, I like playing on pc... 10 bucks isnt going to stop me.
Sage..

Non sequiturIf it is down to costs going up then why haven't they increased the console game price ? If it costs them $60 to make/manufacture a PC game then obviously it must cost them $60 to do the console version as well, charmingcharlie
Yeah I see what you mean about distribution costs goin up on PC titles, all those lorries don't run on water do they ? oh wait a minute at least 80% of PC copies sold are via digital distribution (not a lorry in sight there). As for advertising costs when was the last time you saw them advertise a PC game ? This is not a cost issue, the PC version is probably the cheapest version for them to actually make in terms of costs.charmingcharlie
it costs something to run a digital distribution network thats why Valve... etc has employees, contractual arrangements monitored by lawyers, equipment, offices, distribution rights...etc. :?
I never addressed it because it has no relevance to this topic. I am aware that MS and Sony sold their consoles at a loss initially this generation. They did this because they tacked on a 10 buck tax onto every game sold.charmingcharlieActually where I was gamers were not gonna pay $600 for any console.
So console gamers got cheap hardware but more expensive games. The PC user did not receive any benefit like that, we paid through the nose for our hardware and since there is no royalty fee I think it is only proper that we should expect our games to be at least 10 bucks cheaper than the console version because our hardware is NOT subsidised by game sales.,charmingcharlieI expect everything I pay for to be cheaper :P
Why haven't they raised the price to $70 on the console version ? Probably because they know they can't get away with itcharmingcharlie
Since its only a probability, then there is a possibility that they might not have raised the price because sales of their console might nose dive making the loss on consoles worse. You did say the games were subsidizing the consoles.
