What the HELL is wrong with my new laptop! JEEZ!!!

Well, this has been an exceptional nightmare for me. I haven't the foggiest idea what is wrong with my laptop but it seems to have some sort of screen graphics error that is pure static with some colored horizontal lines running over it that appear in spurts. This problem happens the majority of the times I attempt to boot up, the Windows logo appears and it loads normally until the actual desktop itself appears. Once that happens, it goes into severe artificating/static visuals. I've gotten it to boot normally a few times during the past few days but it never lasts for more than 2 hours or so before the screen suddenly goes from perfect to pure static and even automatically shuts down.

I've attempted to get support for this issue from the agents and reps but they have no idea what the hell the problem is and just want me to return it. I had the agent remote support and diagnose last night and the screen went static during his remote access, so he obviously could not continue. I've never seen a computer do this before and cannot find any threads on the internet for help.

There was also a driver installation error at the start of all the "good" boot ups that said IEEE 1394 has failed to install, well there was nothing there to begin with so I was super confused. I disabled it completely in device manager and it never reappeared. I've uninstalled the Bios and nvidia drivers, as well as the stock HD integrated drivers. Hell, I even thought it was a power supply issue, maybe my socket was faulty and causing the screen to overload for some reason but it still happens when its in battery mode. I can't use the restore disk without a usb drive or DVD rom and I have neither right now ahahah!

I have no clue what could be causing this....I am really stressed.

Have you tried hooking it up to an external monitor?

Take it back. Or reinstall everything including WIN 7 completely all the drivers, it's a lot of work and a pain .And that will only let you know if it's a hardware issue, if it's under warranty just send it back and save the head ache

That's what my monitor was doing after bootup. I've been having a ton of computer problems lately ranging from that to BSOD's that all seemed to be solved by discovering and removing a faulty ram stick; it actually might even by that ram module on my motherboard. Check to make sure your ram is alright.

sounds like overheating. download some tools to keep and eye on your temperatures. either way i'd send it back because you cant open your laptop up to fix it without breaking your warranty (probably)

Oops sorry guys for the late reply, long day. No, it looks way worse than all of those. It looks near identical to a Television not getting a signal. TV static and snow with some very thin colored lines appearing now and then. I have hooked up to my LCD and it receives no signal when it is in the snow phase, but works beautifully when I get a working boot of windows 7 without any problems, again which only lasts from a few minutes to about 2 hours at the most ( 2 hours was the longest it lasted, I did nothing while it was actually working. ) It was not overheating, it did not get warm during the problem phases. While it was on I got to install some monitoring software, cpu temp, speed ect. Nothing was out of the ordinary and almost no cpu usage was shown.

I opened her up to make sure there were no loose connections anywhere that I was able to see, everything seems solid and again why would it suddenly cut out and boot up when it wants to without a problem for such an extended period, but then go back to static snow. No, there were no voided if opened stickers or any mention of this in any warranty clauses. You need to be able to open it up to replace or upgrade the ram. I deleted everything related to audio and video drivers myself to no avail. I had alienware tech support ( not sure if I was routed to Dell Tech ) but they had no idea what the exact problem was and never heard of it. They refused to open the link I posted to youtube, seen below. I also had an "expert" buddy of mine use Team Viewer to diagnose it in safe mode with networking. ( which itself did not always work ). He mulled around in there and basically did all the same things I did and had no success. The snow came back. Reinstalling Win7 will do no good if its a hardware problem, which it really looks like. Its not driver or software related, as I've pretty much checked everything imaginable and the problem presisted. Its going back first thing monday morning, hopefully Dell will be speedy with my refund.
