Hello!

I have played World War II games, but mostly the single player. I'm asking you if you could recommend me any which has good multiplayer.

And another thing...are there any active servers of Battlefield 1942 lately?

I had LAN parties with my friends playing BF 1942, and I'm not too informed about online playing, that's why I asked. Thanks for the quick reply!

Both Red Orchestra games still have active servers, but don't expect a bunch of full servers. They are excellent games though.

The first Red Orchestra is more or less dead outside of Europe. RO2 has a slightly bigger playerbase, but again, it's mostly based in Europe.

DoDS is still somewhat active, though. I think Call of Duty 2 has a bigger playerbase than any of the previous games I've listed.

Day of Defeat and Call of Duty 2 come to mind.

Battleground Europe

http://www.battlegroundeurope.com/

Sign up for the Free Trial for 14 days (no credit card required), then when the trial expires, choose the "extended trial" which is actually just a Free-to-Play version of the game with a bunch of restrictions. Even with those restrictions, nothing else compares. It is one of the only MMOFPS games in existence besides the original PlanetSide and upcoming Free-to-Play PlanetSide 2. If you enjoy realistic World War 2 games and want one with incredible scale, you owe it to yourself to at least give it a shot. It looks outdated because it's been around for so long (since 2001 or 2002), but the developers have added modern effects like ragdoll physics and better lighting/tree models and the game is still going strong.

World At War is a good game. I know it's cool to hate on COD, but I loved COD2, and WaW.

A fellow DoDS player? Nice! :D Piranha, Day of Defeat Source is a superb, cheap WWII title that is still quite active for such an old game. It's very fun as well, I can't recommend it enough. I usually see anywhere from 1,500-3,000 online on Steam at any given time. :)
