Heya, so I finally built my new rig, and she's lookin purty.

Now, originally my friend was going to buy my old rig off of me, but he decided to change his mind and is going to build his own now, too. Soooo, now I'm gonna have to sell it on ebay or something, but I'm not sure what to ask for. My friend was willing to give me a good deal since this rig still isn't a year old yet and, well, cause he's a friend, but I'm not sure what to ask from a complete stranger.

Another issue would be wiping my PC clean. I know how to restore it, but not how to just wipe it clean to how it was when I first built it (without the OS).

Not sure - I'll set someone give you a nice answer on the price. But if it's Windows Vista (idk about 7 - haven't tried it) there is a way to reset it to "factory restore". And it's pretty simple.

Is it one of the options when doing a regular restore?

$450 at most. $400 at the very least. That's a nice "old rig" you're selling

You're shooting a little low there. Show me where somebody could build a rig for $400 that will perform like that, let alone $300.

Yeah, its was nice for gaming and all, but I needed some more power thanks to the fact that I do a lot of HD video editing and 3d work.

It's used. There is a significant lowering in value of used items. Look at cars, which retain value much longer than computers. If you buy a brand new car, the instant you drive it off the lot it is worth a couple grand less.

Is it one of the options when doing a regular restore?

It's when you repeatedly hit F8 (not sure which function key, I think it's 8 though) when your booting your computer.

EDIT - This may - probably is - just with Dell computers.

Ah, thanks. Yeah, pretty sure its on all (or most) PCs as I recall doing that on a previous Compaq computer.

I've sold probably half a dozen used PCs in the last year and a half. I know from experience that you're shooting way too low. $400 to $450 is more like it.

brand new everything there is about 600 bucks. Take into account that newegg doesn't even sell the 5850 anymore and the fact that it is used, I can't see any reasonable person pay 400 dollars for that.

So how do you go from $600 to $300 mainly because the 5850 is used? The 5850 still sells for about $130 on ebay.

GummiRaccoon

The rest of his system costs a bit more than $400 new. Used it is like $300. Are you saying the 5850 is absolutely worthless just cause it's used and "old"?

You can get a new 6870 for 165 bucks which is faster.

If someone pays 400 dollars for that rig, they are getting shafted.

I'd slap somebody if they WON'T pay $100 for a 5850.

If you built it yourself, I would really just part it out. You will get more money that way.

And I would just hook those old hdd's up to you new pc and just reformat them totally.

No, they're not. They'd be getting a nice midrange gaming system for dirt cheap.
