I was thinking of getting a Skullcracker because it has a Subwoofer on it, but people in OT warned me away from it, so im wondering.. whats good quality headphones that wont cost me too much.. I think my limit will be about $120NZD but im willing to go higher if its worth it.

If you just wanted detailed, "HD" sound (whatever that means), I'd just say Stax and be done with it (maybe a Koss ESP/950), but NZ$120 won't buy you any electrostatics like those. The whole matter of New Zealand availability I'm unfamiliar with complicates things as far as suggesting products to you...I don't know how affordable things like the Panasonic HTF600, the Superlux HD668B/Samson SR850, or Fisher Audio FA-003 or FA-011 are in your region, just to rattle off a few models that seem to be becoming ridiculously popular on Head-Fi at lower price points (though it could just be more flavor-of-the-month hype). It's also important to highlight what genres you listen to and your sound signature preferences in general...though if you're concerned about having a subwoofer in your headphones, it's obvious that you're yet another basshead who wants head-rattling, impactful bass. (Something like the HTF600 would do the job there...or maybe the Sony XB500, but that headphone is so ridiculously unbalanced that you'd better have an EQ to bring out the mids and treble.)

Sennheiser, Grado, Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, Denon, Shure are great brands. What do you plan on connecting your headphones to?

[QUOTE="Sicon01"]steel series recently released some ipod gear, it looks pretty cool go check it out! http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-siberia-neckband-for-idevices

No doubt they will sound bad compared to real headphones.
