Sorry for being a noob, I've never play any Duke Nukem games before, I don't even know how many are there in the series.
It's looks like any other FPS and the main character is cheesy as hell... Am I missing something?

The cheesy, mindless, over-the-top, low brow, overtly sexist, testosterone-fuelled, all-out action nonsense is precisely what makes a Duke Nukem game a Duke Nukem game. It's all very much intentional, tongue-in-cheek humour. It knows it's low brow and cheesy, and it loves it.
The themes in Duke Nukem Forever are the entire point of a Duke Nukem game. They're the only things that Duke Nukem has ever set out to achieve, and it does them better than any other game that has ever tried. It's the way FPS games used to be, before Half-Life and Call of Duty came along.
If you want to see the point of it, just don't take any part of it even slightly seriously. At all. If Call of Duty is Saving Private Ryan, then Duke Nukem is Die Hard.
hes not cheestball hes twice the man (and womanizer) that mc or fenix or nomad or any of the modern fps hero's could ever be.

He reminds me of that cartoon character Johnny Bravo.
By the way Duke Nukem 3d Atomic Edition is available on Gog.com pretty cheaply.
Duke lives every real man's fantasy. He saves the Earth all by himself, he looks incredibly good, he gets any woman he wants and he's rich.
Also Duke 3D had brilliant level, weapon and enemy design and a level of interactivity that most games still don't match.

A sense of humour, apparently. :P
Seriously though, Duke 3D was charming because of its cheap, over-the-top humour. Back in the day it was a pretty awesome shooter due to its environments and awesome weaponry. It'd be hard to explain its appeal to someone who never played it when it was new.

Those imps look like oversized pieces of suflaki. :D
The high rez looks good, but messes up the sound, I got Duke3D from Gog.com, a game from my past.. loved it beat it, all 4 episodes, on Come Get Some, while I was out-of-town recently, I downloaded it onto a pc they had there. Was still pretty damn fun this play through as well.

I agree with this. Was never a fan of the first duke nukem but Duke Nukem 2 was god damn epic back in the days. Loved that game. Then Duke Nukem 3D came out and my head asploded from the pure awesomeness. What other game (at the time) could you throw money at strippers for a good time than blow them away?
It's one of those "You had to be there" games, for younger games it's just a shooter with some one liners thrown about. For the older gamers who were there when it came out, it was one of the most awesome things ever as it was a shooter with adult humor that never took itself seriously.TreflisThe adult humor wasnt the main draw. Its one of the most innovative games of all time. First game with destructable environments and interactivity. First shooter with melee afaik. I remember playing dm and locking a player in a room and then fragged him with a grenade through the window.
It's going to be tough for anyone under 30 to appreciate Duke for his accomplishments.JKnaperekI'm 21 and grew up with the Duke since I was 7.
