Whats the best "flying" game out there at the moment. Disliked FSX.

Wondering what the current favourite is for flyers amongst Gamespot users here.

BTW I WAS REALLY disappointed with Flight Simulator X as the graphics were mediocre/poor (even on full detail), the games 3rd person camera was glitchy, flying controls were OK with the 360 controller, but I would've prefered a slightly more interesting game than a hardcore sim. Maybe some shooting, or some fun objectives.

Graphics are really important to me for a flying game so nothing to be recommended that is old.

I would recommend you get a joystick and play FSX some more. You're kind of missing the point playing with a 360 controller.

Blazing Angels might be more to your liking, I think that is on PC.

IL2's realism can also be taken down quite a bit, lending a more acarde-like feel to it. Its a great game, and you can grow an appreciation for flight simulators as you scale the degree of realism up.

There are also some good space simulators out there; Darkstar One is a good one, as is Freelancer. Theyre both a bit dated in terms of visuals, but looking out on nebula and stars and planets is always pretty.

Tbh, the game is slightly boring where it just involves flying to various destinations, maintaining the planes straight lined approach for ages. Not saying I wouldn't want a sim, say, if the graphics were better or gameplay more interesting.

Had a look, and the graphics pretty impressive for a game of that age! But not really what I was looking for. If tropico 3 was a flying game, with visuals like that, that would be the general game I'd be looking for.

Battlestations Pacific/Midway it is, then! Its set in a tropical environment

Might wanna try Wings of Prey if you like good graphics, it's watered down a lot compared to IL-2... but the graphics are incredible by air combat game standards.

Hawx is good, but it is arcadey. Not really a simulator. But it works damn well with the xbox360 gamepad.

I would recomend you get a computer that can actually run FSX on high before you say it is bad. 3.25Ghz is not even close to enough to run it maxed out. Flying with a 360 controller?.......LMAO!!..........are you serious dood??? Please, FSX is one of THE best true to life flightsims on the market.

he wanted something more arcadelike. Falcon 4.0 is epic, especially the retouched version that came out a couple years ago, but its definately not arcade
