I'm going to be building my first PC soon, so naturally I'll recommend that you do likewise. If you have an adversion toward DIY projects or technology in general, you might just be better off geting a pre-built. However, there are just too many advantages to building your own PC to just shrug off the possibility such as:
1. Generally, you'll save some money. The higher-end the PC, the more you tend to save.
2. Great upgradability. By selecting all the parts yourself, you can leave yourself room to grow with a great upgrade path. Prebuilts generally make upgrading more of a hassle than it's worth.
3. You'll gain a lot of technical knowledge about your PC, which could really help with troubleshooting. Plus, for many people, the process of building a computer itself can be a fun hobby that is very rewarding.
Ultimately, you'll have to decide if you want to go the pre-built or self-built route. If you're interested in building your own, some good places to start for research are:
Corsair Guide
Ultimatecomputers.net
Anandtech.com or Tomshardware.com(for lots of hardware reviews and such)
Random Youtube Videos
There are tons of great tech sites and forums all over the internet. It can be a little overwhelming, but it's not as complex as you may think. I've been learning more about PCs every week for several months now by just dedicating a little time to research. Obviously, forums such as these are tremendously helpful.
