My plans was to get it on day one, but I have changed my opinion because of the copy protection used

Aw, ****. When did this happen?

I'm in the same position here. If it comes out without activation limitations, or when they patch out any activation limitations, I'll maybe THINK about getting it. It's a painful choice to make, since I was very excited about this game. But until EA develops some sanity about DRM, I won't be buying their games.
[QUOTE="fatshodan"]Approximately never.wackysWhy?What don't you like about the game?
The game looks to me like a series of mini-games, none of which seem particularly fun. I don't want to play watered down versions of x, followed by a watered down version of y and so on. I'd far rather play some Sim City 4, then some Alpha Centauri.
Spore seems to make some great use of procedural technology, but that's the only part that impresses me.

Ahh Alpha Centauri, that takes me back, still got the copy around on the old '98 :)
Ill get spore when they admit to mucking up the copy protection:p
So never:D

It's not a series of watered down minigames....it's evolution....

Aw, ****. When did this happen?
Not sure when they decided to add that stupid meaningless protection, I heard about ita month ago for the first time. Decided to dig in to see what it was about and was disgusted by what I found

It's evolution conveyed through a series of minigames... admittedly, some may be bordering on macrogames, but most are silly little minigames, and it doesn't appeal to me at all.

My my mysterious sir! You must have played the game for many hours to have such a wonderful insight into the gameplay!
Say! I might have to rethink about getting this game!

I've never been impaled on a steak, either, but I know it'll hurt a ****ton. I know from past experience with other injuries, and from what I have seen and read about impalement. Is it your belief that one must be impaled before one might accept that it would be a very painful experience?
I don't know exactly how good Spore will be, but Ihave read about it enough and watched enough videos, and I feel I have a pretty good idea of the kind of game to expect.
I mean, that's how I decide which games I should buy and which I shouldn't. I read up on a game and I watch videos and I decide which are worth buying and which aren't, and I'm rarely wrong. What do you do? Buy every game regardless of its appeal in the hopes that it might be good, stringently holding to the rationale that you have to play a game to know how good it is?
What's with everyone's beef about the copy protection?
- We authenticate your game online when you install and launch it the first time.
- We'll re-authenticate when a player uses online features, downloads new content or a patch for their game.
- The new system means you don't have to play with the disc in your computer. And if you are like me, always losing discs, this will be a huge benefit.
- You'll still be able to install and play on multiple computers.
- You can play offline.
That's the copy protection. Big whoop.
The only reason someone could complain about that is if they're upset that they can't pirate the game, since they wouldn't be able to authenticate it upon install. Buy it, then you wont have that problem.
As for me, I've already got it pre-loaded via EAstore. Now to wait the 7days 6hours for it to unlock...
