Id Just use AVG, I've used enough to know my way around anti-virus software, and since one of my many qualifictions is in networking and the interenet i have studiedextensivelyinto AV software. AVG are good, i dont use avast as ive heard several bad things about it, and it apparently snakely uses windows tools, not dedicated to its own, McAfee did that got found out, sued and its now classed as malware.
At the end of the day try both, whatever one you prefer keep, but it will be AVG, for simplicity, usefulness and the fact it uses bugger all system resources, 70% of the posts here say AVG for a reason ;] go for it.

Ok. you've convinced me to install the AVG product :D :)@Geran30
For someone who works in the industry, you should know by now to take what you "hear" with a grain of salt, and actually use the product first.

I used AVG extensively for a long time, but found it to be lacking, and generated many more false positives than it should. It also failed to find quite a few threats that Avast! did. When I swapped to Avast! I found the experience much better (and so did my customers). Not mention you get definitions updates nearly daily. The work the good folks at Avast! do in keeping their product up to date makes it hands down a winner in my book. Not to mention how light weight it is. If you are not going to use MS Security Essentials (which is quickly becoming an industry favorite) Give Avast! A go. You won't be disappointed.
