Someone said not to trust geek squad, but that is the only group around here that I know of that's willing to build computers. anyone else have any views about getting them to build my comp? it seems that I can ask people on this forum what to get from newegg, and that should be enough to make certain they build the right computer! also I think they have a warranty on their build, and I won't have to pay for six months.
sounds a lot cheaper than digital storm, I imagine?
also if I get a i7 920 with a gtx295 graphics card does it matter if I go SLI (or Crossfire or whatever it's called)? do I need to get them to overclock or is that too dangerous? also is it ok to have a fan or do I need to go with liquid cooling? do I need a new power source? thanks, gentlemen
I just ordered a rig with the 295 and I went with the EVGA X58 3X SLI and a 1000w power supply. Also, the great thing about Digital Storm is the 3 year warranty on parts and labor, and the life time tech support warranty. I have to say I'm comfortable knowing they're building me a machine right now. They'll overclock anything you want as well.
Also, if you do seriously consider DS, go to their website and get on the forums. Ask DST4ME to build a rig for you and he'll post the config he's created as well as price and a ticket number, and you can then go to a page and toy with his configuration to your liking. Just tell him what you want and your price and he'll do the rest.
I had a rough idea of what I wanted, I posted the config and what I was looking to spend and he created something a lot better so I went with that. Excellet service over there. I really feel good about going with them.
I have been looking to buy a gaming computer for some time now, and finally feel as though the time is right to do so. However I hear piss poor reviews about almost all the sites I looked at. These include Dell, CyberPower PC, and Ibuypower. Even though Dell appears to be the best of these three companies, I know I can get more choices and much more for my money by going with CP PC or IBP. However I have heard horror stories about their customer service and people who receive computers that crash in just minutes after taking them out of the box. To let you know I am in the $1400-$1700 dollar range, and hope to get my moneys worth. This means i7, 4870 x2 and everything else required to run those components. Now I made that build on CP PC for $1603, but cant do it on dell for under $2000. Should I buy from one of these sites, or is there another one that you guys trust and know is reliable?Manibou
ecollegepc.com Don't buy GPU/Memory from there. Buy it off newegg or tigerdirect since ecollegepc seems to over price them.
If you want a really nice one that isn't i7 but is a really good deal.

what exactly does that mean? I was 17 when I built my first rig. Anyone can build a computer and it's not nearly as hard as it looks. Tell your parents you can get the same spec for half or 1/3 the price of the dell to convince them.didnt want to say this but I will. I wanted to build my computer, but my parents wont allow me. Im still in high school, not a 30 year man living in his parents basement.
and anyway I only have to pay half price if I buy from a company. so, any suggestions?
