I've been wanting to get back into an mmorpg. I'm stuck between Age of Conan, Lord of the Rings Online, and Tabula Rasa.

Which one of these seem the best? I like how Tabula Rasa looks because I love Sci-Fi. LotRO looks a little like WoW, which isn't a bad thing. Age of Conan looks cool because of those graphics.

So could anyone help me choose which to get? Can you guys name some pros and cons of each? Please don't say WoW I got bored of it.

City of Heroes/Villains is great fun, it's my favorite MMO right below WOW.

Out of what you listed, LOTRO, though I think it's boring. EQ2 has tons of content and is a lot better than LOTRO. But like others said, try Warhammer. It's out next month.

From those three, go with LOTRO. Tabula Rasa is boring and Age of Conan lacks content. Though you might want to check out LOTRO's free trial first. There's also the possibility of trying EVE.

MARA IS BACK! this guy is like the king of all answers regarding mmo questions

i agree on most of the things you said, except tabula rasa. its actually an OK game, its just that the bugs killed it for alot of people though.

Ultima Online. The other games are level grindfests and get boring quick.... well not EVE, but that's the exception.

ive played a few of those, and ill list what i liked:

eve: i feel like it would require to much to delve into what seems like a great game. i respect its depth, its gameplay, etc, but its just not the experience that i look for. mainly because the ground type missions are lacking. i guess i have an automatic bias to any space based games after playing star wars galaxies (pre-combat update...) because that was awesome. overall i cant recommend it unless you want to sink your teeth into a sci-fi game.

LOTRO: i had tons of fun with this one. it felt like wow, but with a much better atmosphere. i enjoyed exploring, finding new locations, etc... the quests were tons of fun (well except some like go kill 5 wolves, but hey the main quest rocked). il tell you what really sold me on this one though. the developers really seem like they are committed to keeping the game polished, balanced, updated, and full of new content. the chapter system adds new areas monthly, including whole parts of the map. the game is fairly populated. it runs great on most systems out. if you are a lord of the rings fan, its absolutely a must play.

age of conan: the game on this list with the most potential. i had a lot of fun with the combat. "real-time" combat is not what it would seem like, but it absolutely adds alot to the combat part of the gameplay and fills it with depth. i enjoyed the main story line, especially the first 20 levels. the developers are adding content, but i feel this game was rushed a bit. it runs ok on my system, but it could run great (or awful) on yours. ive gotten stuck in the world 4 times wehre i had to request a ticket. very buggy. the pvp system is improving, but not perfect. id suggest trying this one out with a demo, and perhaps buying it around christmas timte when the game should be complete.

i have never played tabula rasa.

good luck in your MMOing, i hope this helped.

those were the days, and the days have biased me as a person towards all mmos in general. i heard a pre-cu emulator was coming out, but i dont think that it will be worth the wait. it will probably be buggy as hell and maybe the new star wars mmo might be out by then.

It's for the best to let Ultima Online rest in peace. There are still some players but UO's days of glory are long gone now.

Those devs sure like to ham it up when it comes to talking about the game, they make it sound like the greatest thing ever, but whenever you see it in action it looks so clunky and generic. Oh and it has the worst footstep sounds in the history of gaming. I get a migraine watching videos of that game because of it.
