On the brink of NFS: The RUN, I thought it would be fun to create this topic.

(I wanted to create a poll but it only lets you 5-6 options so it wasn't enough.)

Personally I loved MOST WANTED, with Undercover and Underground a close second. Call me crazy but I love a NFS with STORY, since it gives me a goal to go towards.

Here is the list to choose from:

- The Need for Speed

- Need for Speed II

- NFS III: Hot Pursuit

- NFS: High Stakes

- NFS: Porsche Unleashed

- NFS: Motor City

- NFS: Hot Pursuit 2

- NFS: Underground

- NFS: Underground 2

- NFS: Most Wanted

- NFS: Carbon

- NFS: ProStreet

- NFS: Undercover

- NFS: Shift

- NFS: Nitro

- NFS World

- NFS: Hot Pursuit (2010)

- Shift 2: Unleashed

- NFS Porsche for me is the best arcade serious NFS game, it had superb tracks for its time, fantastic graphics, easy-medium races and very hard challenges, it had everything.

- NFS Underground is the most arcade fun I had in a NFS game, it had lots of customization (sadly that's what ruined U2 for me, way too much pointless stuff added it became more of a joke than an upgrade), fun races, superb graphics and an interesting campaign.

- NFS Shift 2 is overall the best imo, great gameplay (of course, it's not a game for keyboards), superb graphics, great soundtrack like any NFS, exciting campaign, great tracks and lots of cars, Shift 1 was great too, but it had one major flaw it was too boring after a short while.

As for not liking, there is only one, Carbon, everything was off about it, the Run might be the next champion, looks more than capable of taking that title.

Underground 2 (I've completed this about five times). The new Hot Pursuit is pretty good. There was one I played a lot on PS1, can't remember which one it was, though.

I pretty much like all the old ones (post Prostreet).

I'd have to go with this. Shift 2 Unleashed is my overall favorite but I had sooo much fun with NFS Underground.

NFS3 for nostalgia - playing that at friends for hour when I was primary school. Then probably Most Wanted and following that Shift. Though i imagine the 2010 Hot Pursuit is great, being made by criterion.

  1. High Stakes
  2. Underground 2
  3. Hot Pursuit
  4. Hot Pusuit 2
  5. Most Wanted
  6. Underground
  7. Carbon
  8. Shift

I loved HS the most, hard to for me say why though. Maybe it was the awesome cars, or the track editor. But I think it's mostly nostalgia. My friends and I had a blast playing the game on PSX. It wasn't enough for me, so I bought it on PC too. UG2 comes second. I loved the customization and the open world concept.

Need for Speed Most Wanted is definitely my favorite, and I also played the heck out of and enjoyed Underground 1 and 2.

Shift, by quite some distance, even though there are plenty of other good NFS titles. Shift just seemed to get everything right. I don't see the need for storylines in racing games... graphically it was fine... i loved the engine sounds, they were bang on... had a good balance of driver aidsdepending on whetheryou wanted just a simple pick-up-and-play arcade game, or a much more realistic racing sim-type game. Just a shame Shift 2 didn't quite nail it for me in the same way.

No votes for Carbon or ProStreet... there's a shocker...

I was a fan of the earlier NFS games, and I remember playing NFS2, 3 and 4 for hours at a time. I have no ideas how these games hold up nowadays, though, so I'll go with Hot Pursuit 2. That game had some great, extensive track design, good controls and a very memorable soundtrack. It's still unbelievable how that classic was succeeded by the piece of garbage that was NFS Underground.

The 2010 Hot Pursuit reboot was great as well, and it's the first game in te series I actually liked since Hot Pursuit 2 (Most Wanted is supposed to be good, but I never got to try that one out). It lacked some content, though, and the soundtrack was terrible. The worst installment probably is Pro Street, although apparently there are even crappier installments.

I have recently switched to Test Drive Unlimited 2, anyway. Free-roaming and exotic environments and cars are really all I want.

It's a 3-way tie for me.

-Need for Speed 3- Hot Pursuit

-Need for Speed- Underground

-Need for Speed- Carbon

Carbon was the most arcade fun that I've had with a NFS game. The graphics were top-notch as well. Sounds were awesome.

NFS Most Wanted is my all-time favourite NFS game. Adrenaline-inducing races/ police chases and I enjoyed driving the cars. NFS U2 is my second most favourite. I enjoyed the customization options and the added variety of races compared to NFS: U.

NFS Most Wanted is the only one I've played all the way to the end and I really liked it. Thinking about picking up Hot Pursuit on this sale, I like the sound of the cop chases, and have always been a fan of Criterions games.
