First-person shooters like Crysis is it engaging like call of duty and what make call of duty franchise so popular.Crysis is a great game but at some point it is getting boring and the way enemies act after you kill them is somehow dull.I wish next Crysis game or any other FPS to come up wiith fresh ideas,so Do you like sandbox FPS or the other way around?

Yea, i know, what u mean. They should be more lively after u kill them. Instead they just lie there....boring ;)

Jokes aside...

Sandbox is alwas good, unless it's RPG. Then the task of creating an involving sandbox game becomes to difficult for most developers. If they succeed, however, the results are usually fantastic (see: Fallout series).

problem is in Crysis there's way too much freedom - I mean huge map with choose whatever tactic you like and kill your opponents - but people were looking for this kind of freedom for long time. I still prefer Modern Warfare and CoD games - movie like scripting or huge free roam sandbox>? I'll go with the scripting

I like a mix of scripted and sandbox, like Half-Life 1/2

A mix of bouth like having to choose missions in a huge world but missions to be scripted and linear... hmmm first person GTA.

Something like Far Cry 2 just better.

Far Cry 1 and Crysis >>> cinematic, heavily-scripted, corridor shooters (CoD series)

Count me in. I swear the korean ai in crysis feels dumb. I cant explain it, their movements and reactions seem weird and unreallistic for a human being. Anyway i usually prefer games with many memorable moments like call of duty. Its not that i dislike sanbox games. Just that they dont seem as memorable all the way through. The first crysis had an idea, to mix sanbdox with linear gameplay. I think we all remember the result. Sandbox with KPA halfway through and linear alien fights being the rest. I cant say they got it right. But the real issue is that the shooting felt dissapointing as did the weapons. I hope that in crysis 2 they wil sacrifice some things in order to make shooting more satysfing and possibly find the best balance between linearity and sandbox.

This. I want to have enough space and freedom to have options as to how I approach a situation, but not so much space and freedom that I'm left wandering around trying to figure out what to do.

I'd be looking forward to Rage, which is supposed to have some player choice. Games like CoD are fun for one or two playthroughs but its linearity (not to mention the horribly clichéd story) limits it greatly, so that would cause me to lean towards games that offer some amount of player choice (or at least the illusion of player choice, á la Half-Life 2 and Far Cry), and I can be sure of that judging by the countless playthroughs of DX.

thats what i (and many many others) was looking for, though and i loved the way crysis was laid out. the openness of the gameplay simulates almost exactly what would really happen. you could completely ignore a settlement, or you can use numerous tactics to take out the entire population of KPA in the game. scripted gameplay is nice but sometimes, but its always great to resort to a game with a set storyline, but many ways to accomplish it. it definitely shows that crysis has quite a bit of substance, even though it wasnt the 'intense action-hero campaign mode' everyone seems to look for these days.

Way too much freedom in Crysis??? That's precisely what separates Crysis from so many other first person shooters on the market, and what makes it an incredibly fun game. The later (linear) levels in the game where the pacing was more tightly controlled to set the tone and story development is where the brilliant gameplay suffered a little.

At any rate, I can absolutely appreciate that people have different preferences, but I just had to LOL cause we're like diametric opposites in our preferences :D Though I can enjoy heavily-scripted games as well, games like Crysis take the gameplay in a first person shooter to another level in comparison.

You could never really get lost in Crysis. The mini-map shows you exactly where to go. And I wouldn't go as far as to say it's HUGE... but it's large enough where you could approach each firefight in different ways. I like both. And I like a mixture of both. It really depends if the game is good at all. I really enjoyed Crysis because I was able to run around with complete freedom, where as games like Medal of Honor is holding your hand through shooting ranges.
