looking for a psu , but not sure which to get.
rig is gonna be:
crosshair iv formula
phenom x6 1090t
hd 5850 (possibly 2)
is an 850w psu enough? or more?
Which one of these is best ? (open to suggestions)

I've got almost eactly the same specs as what your planning on getting minus the GPU's as im waiting on the 6k Radeons. I built this about two weeks ago went with XFX 750W Black Edidtion as the closest Corsair in price wasnt modular. That will be more the enough to run dual GPU's aslong as i dont go to crazy :)Timbury
I love you :) Thanks for the info, so i'll get the 850w xfx then (incase future GPU's are power hungry) :) Been hoping someone here has this set up, what case would you recommend, i'm gonna go for the haf 932 amd edition but i'm already over budget (£1300 is my total with everything :P), recommend a good case?
Also since you have the set up. Do i need to update the bio's on the crosshair? or can i just assemble start up and install win 7?
Haven't built a pc in ages so the new stuff is well....
new :)
edit: How much was your build ?
[QUOTE="emperorzhang66"]anyone think a non-modular psu would be better? It costs less :) since i haven't built pc in a while, does a modular psu come with the cabling to plug into it or do you have to buy that to?Daytona_178MOdular PSU's are great for cable management which makes the inside of your case look better and more importantly it improves airflow/cooling.
Thats what i thought, so you sacrifice slight safety and and effeciency for better air flow which improves safety. Win/win. Apart from the modular being £40 more. But does it come with the cables or do i have to get them seperatly ?

It will come with al the cables on a non-modular PSU, you can just remove the ones you don't want.[QUOTE="emperorzhang66"][QUOTE="Daytona_178"] MOdular PSU's are great for cable management which makes the inside of your case look better and more importantly it improves airflow/cooling.Daytona_178

Also do you know if you can use the 2 4 pin cpu connectors if the processor requires it or is the eight pin what you use?[QUOTE="Timbury"]I've got almost eactly the same specs as what your planning on getting minus the GPU's as im waiting on the 6k Radeons. Carried my case over from previous build. It's a CoolerMaster CM690 such a great case awesome cooling with the extra fan slots filled and will swallow any GPU. But the HAF's are great cases. Shouldn't have to upgrade bios just dropped the 1090T in there :) Edit* Carried over components from previous so saved some money that way. Motherboard, Processor, RAM, Cooler and PSU all came to £610.[QUOTE="emperorzhang66"][QUOTE="Timbury"]I've got almost eactly the same specs as what your planning on getting minus the GPU's as im waiting on the 6k Radeons. I seem to remember it being harder than that last time...edit: will probs go with the coolmaster psu or the xfx :) unless you can tell me if i need a 4 pin cpu or 8 pin cpu connection :)
Yep just slot everything in turn it on install Windows and any drivers you got. Make sure to download up to date GPU drivers when your up and running. Takes a 8pin CPU connector on that board. TimburyThanks man :) Your awesome. So at least i know the corsair psu is good now :) between that and the coolermaster :)

Would take the Corsair or XFX over the Coolermaster PSU.

I have similar setup I have a case like that but the AMD edition and a amd955 and two 5850s. I am running with a 600watt modular PSU and no problems.AutoPilotOn600.. really? Might change mine then. went to work yesterday so didn't see this. I'm gonna stick with the 1090t since 80% of what i'll use it for is what it beats other cpu's in the market at :) and when programs are coded for 6 cores then, i'm gonna have a bit more fun :)
